Burke Grand Jury returns true bills
The October 2021 term Grand Jury returned the following
True Bills of indictment during the November 18,2021 session.
Mack Cooper: Aggravated assault; possession of hrearm dur
ing commission of a felony.
Eugene Griffin: Possession of marijuana; tag light violation;
possession of firearm by convicted felon.
Damien Lamont King: Possession of marijuana with intent
to distribute; failure to wear seat safety belt; driving without a
license; tail light violation.
Marian Jacoraariane Tfimer: Possession of marijuana with
intent to distribute; failure tio wear seat safety belt.
Alphonse Fredrick Birdine: Possession of marijuana with

BURKE EMA REPORT
The Burke County Emergency Management Agency re
sponded to 88 patients’ calls during the week ending Nov. 21.
Of those, 56 resulted in transports, including 27 to Augusta
hospitals and two to other out of county hospitals. Thirty
two of the transports were determined to be emergencies
and 24 were non-emergent.
The agency also answered 24 fire calls during the week.
They included three brush/grass fires, three fire/smoke
alarms, one structure fire, nine rescues, one motor vehicle
accident rescue, four public service call, one woods fire and
two unspecified calls.

Jurors have been drawn for the December 2021 term of State
Court criminal session with Judge Jackson E. Cox II presiding.
Jurors are to report at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 30 to the Burke
County Judicial Center .

after months of discussions, the statement went on to say, “For
months the Commission worked diligently to help the sheriff
with his budget issues... Why the Sheriff decided to sue after
receiving that much money and support is a question the Com
mission cannot answer.”
The mandamus states that, if granted, the trial would take
place not less than 10 days nor more than 30 from the date of
its acceptance.
