Jan. 23.

Thirty one of the transports were determined to be emer
gencies and 48 were non-emergent.
The agency also answered 18 fire calls during the week.
They included one authorized controlled burn, one brush/
grass fire, one camper/RV fire, 12 rescues, one woods fire,
one structure fire and one public service call.
Archway
Continued from 2
ing to be even more exciting when we get some projects to work
on.”
Redman earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and
a Master of Public Administration from UGA. His background
includes several years of working in finance, and three years
fighting fires with the U.S. Forest Service.
“That really exposed me to working and living in rural areas
and the challenges and opportunities that small towns face,” he
said of the latter position.
His alma mater has employed Redman in some capacity for
about eight years. He began his career working in student ser
vices with kinesiology students. After a short time, he moved to
the Master of Public Administration program in recruitment and
student services. Through that work, he gained exposure to the
Archway program. While involved in transportation boards in
Athens, he developed an interest in local government and com
munity development work. So, when the position for an Archway
Professional in Burke County opened, Redman jumped at it.
Redman resides in Athens but commutes to Waynesboro
throughout the week. However, in a true show of southern hos
pitality, community members have invited him to avoid the drive
by staying at their homes.
“It’s very nice,” Redman said. “It’s been a very welcoming
community.”
Redman anticipates that the community’s willingness to ad
vance will make it a great place to work. Already there is a strong
interest in the Archway partnership. Listening sessions were
widely attended. The Waynesboro City Council invited him to
speak Jan. 18. He has met with both the Development Authority
and the Downtown Development Authority. He recently toured
Ingevity. Additionally, Archway conducted student focus groups.
