SHELLIE SMITLEY

Local comedian Lorenzo
Williams, 34, just might make
it into the limelight.
The former Burke County
High School student recently
made some appearances in a
few well-known movies and
rubbed elbows with some of
the him industry’s best- known
talent.
Lorenzo recently played a
part in Black Panther 2, the
sequel to the well-known 2018
American superhero him based
on Marvel Comics and distrib
uted by Walt Disney Studios.
He plays the part of a village
Kingsman, a role his agent
secured.
“It was amazing,” Williams
said of the experience. He got
to see how elaborate sets are
created. “It looks like you are
in a ‘for-real’ village but it’s
built in a him studio.”
Williams also recently
played a retired boxer in the
upcoming movie Creed III, the
ninth installment in the Rocky
franchise, directed by Michael
B. Jordan.
“I got a chance to meet a
good bit of people filming
that movie,” Williams said.
Legendary actor Sylvester
Stallone did not make an ap
pearance however, Williams
met him during the hlming of
The Samaritan. Williams can
also brag that he has met Wood
Harris, one of the stars of the
HBO series The Wire. He has
also made the acquaintance of
Angela Bassett and Michael
B. Jordan.
“I am actually in a scene
with him,” Williams said of
Jordan, the renowned actor
and producer. “They had me
doing something different, but
he handpicked me to be in the
scene entering the arena with
him.”
Williams is waiting for that
defining moment that changes
his life. As he strides toward
Hollywood-type status, the
hometown actor’s path gets

more and more impressive.
Unwavering in his confidence
in becoming a billionaire, his
determination to succeed in the
acting world is relentless.
He just recently auditioned
for a part in The Best Man, The
Final Chapter, a part in which
he hopes to secure the role
of the younger version of the
main character. In the mean
time, family and friends might
recognize him in the TV series
Fatal Attraction. He plays the
role of the good ex-boyfriend
in the June 20 episode.
“Before you get on the set,
they let you see the story of
the real people who were mur
dered,” he said. “You have to
find a way to make the charac
ter become you.”
Right before Thanksgiving,
he played a role in the horror
drama, The Menu. Williams
said he improved the art of
improv by being among all of
the other comedians.
“It’s a big movie,” Williams
said. “I had a lot of fun on that
set. I am almost on the peak of
my success; it is right around
the corner.”
Williams is a comedian at
heart. He is part of the live
entertainment lined up for the
“Laugh, Don’t Shoot Com
edy Show” at Ikonz Sports
and Grill May 21. Williams
was asked to perform through
word-of-mouth stemming from
the Black Panther 2 gig.
“It’s going to be exciting
because I bring the house down
when I do a comedy show.
That’s first, comedy came be
fore acting,” he stated. “You
will get the best laugh that you
have ever gotten and see the
funniest comedian you have
ever seen, in me.”
The $20 tickets to the com
edy show are only available on
eventbrite.com. No tickets will
be sold at the door.
