Notice is hereby given that the Burke
County Board of Commissioners
will let a contract to the lowest
responsible, qualified, bidder by
sealed bids submitted to the Burke
County Board of Commissioners,
P.O. Box 89, 602 N. Liberty Street,
Waynesboro, Georgia 30830, no
later than 5:00 p.m., Tuesday Octo
ber 13th, 2022, for the Renovations
of Burke County Recreation/Boxing
Club Facility. The facility is located at
525 Wallace Street Waynesboro, GA

The project is funded, in part, by
a Community Development Block
Grant. Contractor must not be on
DCA debarred list and must comply

Bookkeeper/Assistant Manager
Job Description
He/she is responsible for the accounting functions of the tax commissioner’s office as directed by the tax
commissioner. This individual must be able to work closely with the tax commissioner and accounting staff, as
well as with the staffs of property tax and tag. He/she should possess the general knowledge of all areas of
the work in the tax commissioner’s office and standard procedures as set by county and State law. All work
is subject to audit by an independent CPA and State Auditor. Supervision over personnel is shared with the
tax commissioner.
Judgmental decisions are required in this position.
Duties
•Verify daily cash reports, and summary reports
• Assist with proper application of forms and computer software techniques
• Post deposits
• Post daily cashbook
• Breakdown applications into proper categories for state reports
• Process and verify report summaries for motor vehicle tags and property taxes
• Process State reports for tag, title, and special permits in a timely manner
• Post weekly cash journal and balance with daily cash journal and checkbook
•Transfer ad valorem proceeds to special tag and tax accounts after balancing
• Process refunds
Desirable knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Knowledgeable of cash collection and tabulation procedures
• Skilled in using a computer and general office equipment
• Ability to understand State laws and regulations applicable to the administration of real and personal to col
lection functions; to apply State tax laws; to check data for accuracy, to maintain files, records, and receipts
• Knowledgeable in Quickbooks
Education and experience
• High School graduate or an equivalent
• Some college is desirable
•Two years’ experience as a Senior Clerk or Bookkeeper
