EBA shines in student’s memory
Friday night's game was
dedicated to EBA junior, Mor
gan Tedder who passed away
Thursday, Nov. 10th.
The junior class and their
families made a circle at mid-
held and released her favorite
color blue balloons. Morgan
will be missed by so many
but her memory will live on.
EBA won against the Georgia
Christians 10-7. They will
play away at Brentwood for
the Quarterfinals.
Connor Syms ran the ball 18
times for 121 yards.
Matthew Hood had 11 tack
les and Kade McGill had 10
tackles. William Hood had 3
tackles, 1INT, and 2 pass break
ups. Garrett Jenkins ran the
ball 11 times for 44 yards and
1 touchdown.
Brayden Tindell had five
tackles, two pass break ups and
kicked an 18- yard held goal.
"I am extremely proud of
our team. This group of young
men has overcome so much
adversity this week from deal
ing with the flu, the unexpected
death of a classmate and the
wet weather,” said Head coach
Andy Woodard. “Our defense
dominated the night holding a
very good Georgia Christian
passing offense to only five
hrst downs and seven points.
On offense, our guys controlled
the line of scrimmage and
adapted to the held conditions
by running the ball with suc
cess. We are excited to keep
our season going as we head
into our Quarterhnals match at
Brentwood on Friday."

Five Burke County Middle School eighth graders were each awarded a scholarship during a
special signing ceremony on November 2,2022, as a part of Georgia’s REACH Program. Begin
ning now, in 8th grade and through high school, these students will be paired with a mentor and
an academic coach. They must maintain good grades, behavior, and attendance. Each student
who completes the program requirements will receive $2,500 per year to be used towards the
cost of attendance at a four or two-year institution in Georgia. The public-private scholarship
program, launched by Gov. Nathan Deal in 2012, offers needs-based scholarships that give
students the financial support and motivation to finish high school and college. Many of the
state’s major universities, such as the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech, will match the
grant should those students enroll there. A handful of universities, like Mercer University, will
double the scholarship’s value for scholars who enroll. Recipients are selected by a committee
of community members, based on a combination of factors, including academic performance
and financial need. Standing (L-R): Miriam Lopez, Skyler Wiren. Seated (L-R): Cherry Ball-Walker,
Ja’Miyah McBride, Chandler Neal-Hawthorne
