Details of Walmart
gun incident unclear
SHELLIE SMITLEY

It is unclear if a man bran
dished a handgun inside the
local Walmart last week.
Two juveniles arrested for
obstructing officers and dis
orderly conduct said a gun
was pulled on them at the
Waynesboro Walmart Monday,
January 8.
Upon arrival, a Waynesboro
Police Department officer wit
nessed an ongoing fight in the
parking lot. According to the
incident report, two juveniles
attempted to flee on foot, caus
ing one officer to threaten to
deploy his taser. After they
were apprehended, both juve
niles made comments about
shooting the officers in their
faces.
At the WPD headquarters,
the juveniles were interviewed
separately and relayed match
ing accounts of an adult black
male, dressed in a red and
white hoodie, who pulled a gun
on them inside the store.
“We were unable to substan
tiate if an adult male with a
firearm was on the scene,” said
Investigator Angela Collins.
A third juvenile was arrested
without incident. All the juve
niles involved ranged between
the ages of 11-16 years old.
