A yom g man mimed Mixion was
caught by an alligator a few days
since while bathing in the Suwannee
river near Benton. Tho alligator
carried ,<lio young man under the
water, but reappeared in two or three
minutes with Mixion in his jaws.
Mixion cried to liis companions to
shoot, but before a guu could be dis

under with him. About two minutes
after he urose again and struck for
tho opposite shore, still having the
ill-fated young mau iu,his enormous
mouth. Again Mixion called upon
kiB companions to shoot, but being
afraid of hitting Mixion, no ono dis
charged his gun. The alligator crop
some half a doeen feet upon tho op

minutes, when, guided by a sudden
impuluo, ho plunged with his pre

and regel.ing the middle sank to

from his frighted horse Saturday

He is improving at this writing and
we hope to see his cheerful face
