Iu Memory of Mrs. D. K. II. Wells
Lula is gone I None but those win
knew her well can over know tho poig
nant grief those little words contain,
(Jan it bo true; bright, happy Lula now
sleeps beneath the sod?
It seems but yesterday, I behold her
a joyous Inido, her sweet fair face all
dimpled in merry smiles; so rudient
with her now happiness. A few brief
mouths have intervened-she now re
poses in the grim, silent ehuroh-ynrd
Ah I ’tin a painful, difficult truth to re
alize. Death linn scon lit by an inexor
able mandate to force, so suddenly from
tlm fond embrace of n devoted husband
his idoliz id companion, that made life
so truly dear to him, and borofts his
lonely infant forever hi r care, guidance
and liifluonco, doprives her u(Toot,innate
mother of lior only daughter, tho belov
ed, cherished object of her dearest iu-
torest in this world. There
too is her little brother, who will long
mourn tho sad loss of his only sister.
My pen falters I words posses so little
power to portray such mighty sorrow.
Til those stricken ones, an at
tempt at consolation would seem but
Cruel, bitter mockery, Lula, naturally
gifted with bright mental capacity,spark
ling wit, a heart highly attuned to sym
pathy and generosity, possessed a mag
netism that quickly endeared her to all
thoso who thoroughly understand and
appreciate her true merit. Bho wiih
perfectly confident of tho near approach
of death, as a host of angels, encircling
Josns olirist awaitied to bear her spirit
Home.” In sweet modulate tones she
requested her mother to bid her friends
farewell with hor love, A calm resig
nation made beautiful hor countenance
as who bade hor loved ones adieu. Her
perfect assurance of happiness in tlmt
world of the blessed, cannot fail ;toservo
as one great, grand ray of consolation
to tho berei.v.'d ones. It leaves in her
pathway an illuminated, silver trail of
glory, that perchance will sorvo as a
beacon light to lead thoso loved ones
more surely to that realm whero Lula
still lives, a crowned, happy angel; await-
ing to wolcoino them to hor homo with
her Savior. Mrs. W.It.T.
