“The Man From Mars”
The date and the cast for the big
scenic production of “A Man From
Mars” given under the auspices of
the Woman’s club will soon be an
nounced. The rehearsals are going‘
along smoothely and a real dramatic.
treat is in Store for the amusement
lovers, Usually the public doesnot
expect much from local talant but
those who witness the performance
of “A Man From Mars” will be
agreeably supprised. None will realize
that it is an amature performance
The play is an unusually strong one
different in every way from anything
ever produced in this city. The
cast has been carefully selected.
Each of the 20 odd points has been
filled by those perfectly suited to
them and they are being drilled by
a competent director, bringing out
every little detail. Nothing is being
spared ro make this the biggest.
most perfect and complete produc
tion ever offered and those who
fail to secure seats will miss a real
dramatic treat. Don’t go just because
you think you are assisting a good
cause or because you have friends
fn the cast. But come to see some
thing that you will enjoy from an
artistic standpoint. The play is
really an up to date love story, but
the situations are so unusual and at
times so intense that the audience‘
seem spellbound. Emogine a very
rich man, one that has been in the
habit of commanding, but who is
conceited and selfish, about mid
night seated before his fire is con
fronted by a big man in heavy
armour. A mysterious man from
Mar’s. A man who has wonderful
powers and compells the man of
earth to do all he bids. The million
aire is lead from his beautiful com
fortable home out into the cold
streets to see how the underworld
lives. The lesson that it teaches is
linteresting gripping and convincing.
The scenic and electric effects are
perfect. The big snow scene in the
street of London, the m; sterious
electrical power of the wonderful
man from Mars and the beautiful
story of love and sacrifice that it
unfolds is well worth seeing. This is
not a charity performance but a
real dramatic treat. The receipts will
be turned over to the Woman's
Club and no doubt used for some
good cause. |

THE LEADER-ENTERPRISE AND PRESS WEDNESDAY DEC. 1, 1915
Special Session Has
Satisfactory Ending
Money Was Well Invested
Atlanta, Ga., Dec. I—Well, the
extra session of the Georgia legis
lature, now ended, turned out to
be not sc much of a useless cat
and-dog fight comedy after all.
Quite a bit of serious work was
Efinally accomplished and the legis
‘ lators are now safely back at home
with plenty of time to prepare for
Christmas.
The prohibitionists succeeded in
passing a set of measures which
give Georgia one of the strictest
prohibition laws. in the world, a
law which will not merely prohibit
the sale of liquor in the saloons
and clubs and kill the beer saloons
but which will actually limit the
amount of liquor a man can private
ly have in hisJown home and will
go so far as to bar national iooaga
zines and publications containing
liquor ads until the ads are either
clipped out or covered over with
lampblack. }

Last and most important of all
the Western & Atlantic railroad
releasing commission, which Col.
Walter P. Andrews and the other
students of the situation have sat
up at night and studied for months
and which was in a sense the most
important thing before the legis
lature, was finally put in excellent
shape and the commission created
along what are believed to be the
proper lines, Col. Andrews, repre
sentative from Fulton, has done
more work, perhaps, than any one
man, in working out the details of
the Western & Atlantic problem,
and he has received many congratu
lations from all parts of the state
on the final happy outcome.
