a meeting of the Board of Di
rectors of the Dixie Highway
Association has been called for
Saturday, March' the twenty
sixth at the Hotel Dempsey,
Macon, Georgia for the purpose
of designating the connecting
link of the Eastern Division of
the Dixie Highway between
Macon, Georgia and Jacksonville,
Florida. We are enclosing. for
your information, a 2 list of the
members of the entire oard of

in order that you may” forward
your briefs to each one of them,
in the event that you have not
alreaay done so. W
For your further information,
prior to the meeting of the Board,
the directors will leave Macon
Monday, March the twentieth

At the Annual stockholders
meeting of the Ben Hill National
Bank of Fitzgerald,” Ga. which
was held yesterday a very grati
fying report was made as to the
business done since the opening
of the bank on Juiy 19th. of last
year. .
The old board of directors were
re-elected for the ensuing yvear
with the addition of two new
directors—G. E. Davis and T. F.
Hemminger. :
With the full confidence of the
people which this new institution
in enjoying it is thought that its
growth will be very rapid during
the coming year.
Mayor O. F. Beckham of Abbe
vilie was in the city today.
J. R. Monroe of Akbeville is
running for county school super
intendent o f Wilcox county.
Mr. M»onroe is a former popular
teacher in this ‘section and well
qualified to give Wilecox couuty a

ed to select committees from the
two organizations and to report at a

the regular Annual Meeting of the
stockholders of the First National
Bank of Fiizgerald was held and
largely attended by shareholders
of this institution, both from this
locaiity and adjoining countics.

Poultry Show Opens With
Fine Showing
The South Georgia Poultry
Show opened today with 500
birds from a great number of
exhibitors and others are on the
way. Red Jones Capt. McCrary
and J. P. Patterson have been
hard at work preparing for the
opening and everytling was in
readiness on schedule time.
Some of the finest chickens ever
shown in Georgia are on exhibi
tion and the small admission fee
of 10 cent will ‘enable everybody
in the county to view them.
Some of the exhibitors have
shipped birds that have won
prizes at the big State shows a: d
it will be a pleasure to see the
proud birds strut about their
cages.

field, Mr. Harris is a practical
farmer and expert Anindal Indus
try agent and bhas the confidence
of the Governmert department of
Farm exteusion work. Mr. Har
ris' met a number of cur citizens,
and expressed himself as well
pleased with the prospects for the
extension work in' the county-
Should Mr, Harris accept the po
sition in Ben Hill we feel sare
that the preparedness campaign
against the invasion of the 801 l
weevil will find the county in
readiness to meet the enemy of the
farmer. Mr. Harris is especially
interested in school development:
