State Administration
ATLANTA Oct, 22—TIn the cur
rent issue of his Columbia Sentine!
Senator Thomas E, Watson, in a front
page editorial under the caption of
“What is the Matter With Georgia”
thrusts sharply at the new state ad
ministration and asserts that the “clean
sweep with a new broom” which was
widely mentioned a year ago has fail
ed to materialize,
Senator Watson discusses various
legislative matters which were han
dled by the last legislature and charg
es that “not one campaign pledge has
been kept,
After dicsussing the alleged failures
by the state legislature to adhere to
administration pledges enacting legis
lation “promised” during the campaign
Senator Watson declares that his po
litical friends have been slighted in
the way of state appointments. He
says:
“At present T make no complaint
of the fact that every important ap
pointment has been given to enemies
of mine.
“If my friends are not competent
to hold these offices, they should not
be recognized
“T.ast year my friends seemed to
be worthy of trust.
“A sudden blight seems to have
stricken them.”
“They have heen frostbitten, and
they have wilted.”
“That's alright; we can look to that
later,”
“1 am forced to say, that the covert
influences which paralyzed the legis
lature this vear, eould not have been
anticipated by any honest voter who
listened to the promises made a year
