From present indications the race for the republican nominat.on for the presidency in 1896 will be between William McKinley of Ohio, and Benj. Harrison of Il linois. Between these two we do not know which is Jthe w'orst— McKinley with his protection ideas, or Harrieon with his force bill. The Hustler of Rome, was out in a 84 pngs trad edition recently that would do credit to a town twice the size of Romo. The doctor and his wi f e came of good families, and at one time Ilanvey was atomising phy sician, but strong drink got the advantage of him and he went wrong. Three year* ago he and hia wife separated on account of hia dissipation and he went abroad returning last spring to hia family who received him cheerfully, he agreeing to reform, but the de mon hud too strong a hold on him and he soon took to . drink again, and the killing of his wife was the result. Our young people have certainly caught the right spirit and they will doubtless be greatly benefited if they continue to *‘go ahead.” The Fort is very quiet and se rene at present.
