RESOLUTIONS,
The County Board of Educa
tion.

Lt. Resolved, That the C. S. C. shall be in In* office on the
four Saturdays succeeding the Ist. Tuesday in January of enoh
year, to contract with teachers of Public Schools, and the 2nd and
Bul Saturdays in March, June, September and December, to receive
public school teachers reports, (the blanks for s:,id reports to be I
furnished hy the C S C). And be it further, Resolve h That public
school teachers .shall attend to such matters on the above given days.
2nd. Resolved, That the Public schools may be taught during
the months of January, February, March, April and May. or oivi
ded as follows: January, February and March, then a vacation muL
the lomaiiulor of the term in July and August following, and in*
neither case will the tea-her he required to teach later than the 10 th*
of April or September. Provided, That in •llhercaie the teacher
shall invest the CSC with a written notiee to that effect, signed by
patrons representing a clear majority of the pupil* of inch school,

do not agree on a teacher, or the time of t-a -hing such school, it
shall be, (he duty of the Cnuity School Commissioner to find a com
petent teacher who hid not been seen by any of' the patrons and

Word Primer, Word Book and New Word Analysis, Webster’s
Speller, Harvey’s School Primary Speller. and School Speller, Quack
enbos’ First Book in Grammar, Harvey’s Prac'.ioal English •rnm*-
mar, Carnell’s First Step in Geography, Eclectic Elementary Ge
ography, Eclectic Complete Geography, Robinson’s Higher Arithme
tic, Eggleston’s First Bjk in American History, Fggleston’e His
tory of the U. S. ami its people. Webster’s Complete School Dio*
tionarv, Spencerian Copy Book, tracing course, Spencerian Copy
Book, common school course. Sanford;* Arithmetic, nil Noa., and
Bill Arp’s History of Georgia. Teachers failing or refusing to use
taid text books, will forfeit th-ir claims against the Board of Edu
cation of said county. And be it further. Resolve!, That all the

their Register to school every day, so that the com I y school com
missioner may examine the same any time he may visit tile school,
6th. Resolved, That the county school commissioner shall vis
it each public school in the county at least ones a year, and twice if
possible, and examine into the workings of the sohoole, and make
such suggestions ns he may deem for the best interest of the echo ls
and report to the Board in wiitinf, the kind of discipline, order*
progress, grade of reoitatic n and anything else neccessary.
7th. Rrtblved, That publia school teachers shall be required
to be engaged in actual work with their pnpi’.s, nt least six hours
per day during the Months of January, February and March, and
seven and a half hours during the remainder of *the school term, and
atleasl 20 to 80 minutes par day shall be devoted to penmanship,
and berinaers must have at least five or six recitations per day.
Bth. Resolved, That pupila oannot attend, either altogether or
in part, any two or more, public sehools during any sehoel year, bu
shall be required to attend the public school to which thoy first go,
and there alone receive public aid, unless tin# first teacher give
such a pupil a eertifieate stating that said pupil hae settled private
ly with him, and that lie hasexcused said pupil.
9th. Resolved, That teachers who cannot be present to receive
the amount due them from the county school commissioner, must
give a written order to soma other person to collect and recsipt for

county shall meet in Institute two Saturdays during the year. The
C S C to furnish th ; programme, set the days for each meeting, and
conduat the Institute, as in former monthly Institutes, and neither
the county school commissioner nor teachers shall receive compen
sation for theae days.
11 th- Resolved, That the Board of Education will contract
for a Public school in each sub-school district. ,
12th. Resolved. That all border teachers, who have pupils from
Madison county, shall be governed by the same rules at teachers
who have schools entirely of Madison connty pupils, udlsss it is
where the rules are in direct conflict, and in no case will the Board
pay for children going out of the county when it is as convenient
for the pupils to go m the county.
18:h. Resolved, That every public school teacher in Madison
connty. white or colored, shall subscribe for some educational
