The Judges convention is over
and the following are the candi
dates named by it and presented
the peop'e of Georgia fo" election

Hon. Andrew J. Cobb, of Fulton,
but formerly ot' Clarke.
There were ten candidates pul

balloting became interesting after
this and the friends of each can

ballot had commenced,

in the convention, was withdrawn at
the end of the fifth ballot, when
the convention adjourned. Cobb
gained steadi'y from the first bal
lot to this adjourntm nt..
Tlie convention met the next
morning and the battle of ballots
continued, Cobb still gaining until
the Bt’n bal ot, hen he was nomina
nated, receiving 2C4 votes.
Before the begin ing of the 9th
ballot, the names ot Bower, Bran
ham Martin, Hopkins were with
drawn, leaving only three candi
dates, vis: G F Gober, VV II Fish
and S W Harris, in the rare. .
Tlie excitement at this time, was
running highjs the friends of each
candidates was cheering for his
man, and it was untie time J before
the chair was able to restore order
so that the 9th. ballot could be
had. This ballot faiied to nomi
nate, and the mime of S VV Harris
was w’itlnlra vn ,leaving the fight
between Fish and Gober. The del
egates began to move nbeut at this
and soon the 10th . and las ball t
was on, and everything was as
quiet as you please, and each vote ;
