J.XVII
death of
MRS. 0. IURIFFETH
A thick pall of grief and sadness
cast over this community Wed
riv morning, upon the announce
" t that srM. Geraldine Griffeth,
” f ’ 0 f Mr. 0- K. Griffeth, had
passed away Tuesday night, from a
brief attact of complicated diseases.
, she was attacked with the prevail
ing influenza some two weeks or
more since, which was soon foil; vd
by pneumonia, and The, first of ♦ his
week she gave birth to a still born
infant. Although her relatives and
host of friends' realized tfyat. she ’ as
in a very serious condition, yet J hey
all fondlyhoped and devoutly Prayed
that her young and truly valuable
life might b spared to them. Eut
the Father of all good knew 'best,
and in His infinite wisdom saw fit to
remove her from this “vale of tears”
and take her to that blessed land
where there is no death, no sorrow,
no tears, but where all is peace and
joy and happiness complete, and
where she can spend an ndless eter
nity in the presence of Him whom
she loved so dearly and served so
well while here.
Mrs. Griffeth was the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Carson, of
Cornelia, Ga. In the fall of 1917 she
came here as a teacher in the Dan
ielsville High School and soon won
not only the respect and esteem but
the true love of both faculty and
students of the institution and also
made hosts of admiring and loving
friends among our people by the
many noble traits of character
which sh possessed in a high degree.
In the summer of 1918 she was mar
ried to Mr. 0. K. Griffeth, since
which time they have lived happily
together in Danielsville, and she
was greatlybeloved by al our people.
She had been for several years a
member of the Presbyterian • lurch,
and xemplified the faith she profess
ed by a Godly, consecrated walk —al-
ways following in the footsteps of
the Master, going about doing good.
She will be greatly missed in her
church and everywhere else in all
good work.
She leaves a father and a mother,
six sisters and three brothers, be
sides numerous relatives and a mul
titude of true, admiring friends to
mourn her death, who have the sin
cere sympathy of this community
and of all who knew her in their
deep, sore affliction. *
The funeral took place a£ the
Presbyterian church here at' 10 o’-
clock Thursday morning and was
conducted in a most appropriate and
feeling manner by Revs. S. J> Cart
ledge and Robert Telford, in the
presence of a large and sympathetic
audience, and the remains were con
s gned to earth in Danielsville cem
etery.
