OYSTER SUPPER
Grover Cleveland Gunnells Post,
No. 39, Danielsville, Ga., of the A
merican Legion, held a business meet
ing here last Saturay night, Feb. 21st
quite a number of ex-service men be
ing present.
In connection therewith and as
hadjbeen previously advertised, the
Legion had an oyster supper, which
gees without saying, was carried out
in the most up-to-date manner in ev
ery respect and was hugely enjoyed
by all present. Messers H. L. Ech
ols and H. T. Sanders, assisted by
several of the ex-service men, did the
cooking, which was done in a man
ner that would have done credit to
professional chefs.
The Legion is now engaged in an
active campaign to enlist new mem
bers, and the benefits which are be
ing and to be derived by the mem
bers from it in the future are almost
inconceivable and will pove to be of
lasting good to the men in Khaki who
served their country so gallantly in
its time of'need. Every ex-service
man is eligible to membership who
will agree to comply with the rules
of the Legion in entrance and mem
bership. •
The next meeting of the Legion
will be. heild at Colbert, Ga., oa the
first Friday night in March—March
sth. All ex-service men are cordi
ally invited to attend. The meeting
will open at 7:30 o’clock.
Mr. and Mrs.’J. C. Massey and two
little daughters, Janet and Mary, of
Atlanta, were week-end guests of
Mrs. R. P. Sorrells.

We are sorry to learn that ail the
members of the family of Mr. Claud
Landers, except himself,, have the
“flu” at present. Hope they may
soon be well agajfri.

here last Saturday.

out of school again this week on ac
count of some trouble in his head.

Messers J. B. Streatman and S. G.
Haggard, two good citizens of Poca
taligo district, were visitor's to our
town Wednesday.

Campbell has bought the house and
lot of Mr. J. F. White here that
Mr. White has bought a farm in Sum
ter county, to which he and his fami
ly propose to move some time this
year. We will regret -to lose Mr.

meeting which is called to meet in
the court house next Tuesday, for
tne purpose of electing anew execu
tive for the county and 'organizing
for the political campaigns of the

school, spent the'lnst week-end with
her parents at Statham.

“under the weather" for several days
this week, begs the indulgence of the
readers and hopes they will overlook
the paucity of matter in this depart
ment of the Monitor. Hopes he may
be able to do better hereafter.
Monday morning Judge Hodges
will open the Spring term of Madison
Superior court and we invite all our
friends to drop in and see us while
here. It will be a fine time for those
of them who are not now on our list
to authorize us to pat their names
down for the Monitor. This is a po
litical year and everybody ought to
have a home paper, as we are sure to
have some stirring times politically
during the year. And even if you
don’t subscribe for the paper, we
shall be glad to see you and learn
what i3 going cn in your pact of the
moral vineyard. Come in anyway

“land of -the living.”

Mr. and Mrs. Joe spent part
of last week with their sister, Mrs.
Georgia Phillips, who is very sick.
The singing given by Mr. Willis
Crow was attendee by a large crowd.
