Mesdamea T. A. Grimes and R.
H. Bullock, of Athens, accompa
nied by Messrs Lloyd Bullock and
Nathaniel Hansford, spent Sun
day w:th relatives here.
We had a most pleasant call thia
week from our old and highly es
teemed friend, Mr. C. C. Clements,
for many years a well-known citi
zen of this eouufcy, batnow living
in Athens, He will he 87 years
old m May, so be informed us, but
is as straight as an ludiau, does
not use a walking eaue and can get
about more l.thely than many un-n
;of4o. We were glad to see him
and hope he may live yet for many
years.
Messrs. T. A. Grimes, R. H. and
J. R. Bullock, of Athens, were vis
itors here Tuesday.
We were glad to meet this week
ouroid and much esteemed friends,
Cols. J. J. Strickland and C.
Thomas, of Athens, who were in
attendance upon court here.
Mrs. Landers and chil
dren visited her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. Y. Huff, here this week.'
Mr. J. L. Reinhart, of Pittman
district, gave us a pleasant, call

Wednesday from Mr. R. 11. Pitts,'
a former citizen of this county,
but who has been at Pelzer, 8 0.,
for several years past. He says he
thinks that Dauitdsville needs and
should have au electric line rail
way to connect us with the outside
world. We think so too, and hope
that er long we may have or e.

our friends to the fact that we can
not afford to publish articles fa
voring the candidacy of individ
uals for the various public offices
unless they sire paid for at regular

Birthday Dinner.
Last Sunday Mrs. J. Y. Huff
gave a birthday dinner to her mo
ther, Mrs. Caroline Burroughs,
which was attended hy a number
of her immediate relatives
Mrs. Burroughs was horn 011 the
29th ot February, and consequent
ly her birthday only occurs once
in four years. Still, shecau be no
longer considered a young girl, but
i* now a full fledged ffyjal citizen
of the realm, as thia was the 2Lt
0 ie and she was that day 84 yeais
youi g. She is a remarkably well
preserved lady of bar age and no
cne would take her to be near that
old.
It is needless to gay that they
had a fine dinner, everything pass
ed off most pleasantly indeed, and
it is the unanimous yerdict of all
who were present th;r| “it wav good
to be there.” May she live to en
joy many more such is the sincere
wish of bar host of friends.

Meeting
Pursuant to the call of tlje
Chairman Dr. J. S. Daniel, the
Democratic Mass Meeting was
called to order at. 12 o’clock in
the court house in Danielsville,
or* Tuesday, March 2, 1920. On
motion. Dr J. S. Daniel was
nominated for chairman for the
next two years, and -wine was
duly put and unanimously
carried, C. E. Adams was nomi
nated a9 secretary and on
motion was duly elected. The
following committeemen were
elected:
Danielsville Dist -W. C. Sorrells
Fork—T. J. Stevens
Brookline—S. J. Carmichael
Grove Hill-T. L. Collins
Pittman—G. L. Williams
Pocataligo—R. T. Fitzpatrick
Mill—C. W. Dean
Harrison-H A. Rice
Collins—T. M. Wood-
Upon motion and after dis
cussion the following resolution
was adopted: That three sena
torial committeemen be elected
function shall be to co
operate with similar epmmittee
men from, the eounties of El
bert and Hart to make such
rules and regulations as may be
necessary in nominating a can
didate for State Senator.
The resolution was adopted
and the following were nomi
nated as Senatorial Committee
men, and elected:
A. P. Stevens, G. P. Whit*
; worth, and G. E. Adams-
Upon motion made that the
rules and regulations adopted
by the Executive Committee

ject to such changes as may be
[made by the mass meeting,
! same was duly adopted.
Motion was made that the
I rule of selecting candidates be
made the majority of all votes
cast rule, or double primary
rule, the two highest candidate
where none receive a majority
of all votes cast being required
to run over in a second primal y
same was duly put and carried.
Motion was made that the
date for the county primary be
fixed on April the 20th, the
same date as the Presidential
Primary and the same was duly
adopted.
