REPORT OF
GRAND JURY
MARCH TERM, 1920
We the Grand Jurors chosen and
j sworn to serve at the March Term
1920, of the Superior Court in and
for the County of Madison, State of
i Georgia, beg leave to submit the
following general presentments:
We have through Committees ex
| amined the Pauper Farm and find it
| in good condition with the exception,

j front porch need repair: we recom
mend that rough blinds be hung over
windows for protection. The house
1 on opposite side of the road needs a
bout the same repairs except the ve
i randa. We find the barn needs con
siderable repairs and the house in
which Mr. Childs lives leaks in one
room. The inmates seem to be weel
satisfied. There are one male and
two females. We visited the convict
camp and found'it in good condition,
I kept in a sanitary condition, the
stock and machinery in good shape.
Through committee we have exam
! ined the records and dockets, both
civil and criminal, of the Justices of
the Peace of the county. After care
! ful. investigation we find said rec
: ords and dockets kept in a reasona
ble neat and orderly manner, the rec
j ords clear and intelligible) and hi all
other items and ways well and propf
erly intered and kept.

the County Supt. of Schools, as ex
hibit 1. Also. Tax Collector s re
port attached, and’.marked exhibit 2.
Also, report of the finances of the
county by Auditor J. F. Hart, and
marked exhibit J.,
..We find'vacancy of Notary Public
! for Mill District a.nd recommend for*
appointment, C. W. Dean. We find
vacancy of Notary Public for Grove
■ Hill District and recommend for ap
pointment M. D. Brown. We find
two vacancies in the Board of Edu
cation and recommend that S. W.
Fitts succeed C. W. Scarboro, and
that Parker. Tabor succeed A. P. Ste
vens.
We the Committee appointed to
examine the court house and the jail
Beg leave to report that we find in
the court house some leaks which
j should be repaired over the County
School Superintendent's office and al
so the Solicitors office. We also
recommend that a door lach on the
Grand Jury room door be fixed.
We find the jail in fairly good con
dition, some repair on the upper
fioor should be made. We also frd
