OAKLAND SCHOOL
The opening of Oakland School on
Monday morning, Oet 30th was an
occasion of exceptional interest.
A splendid community spirit ore
varies Oakland this year. Asa result
of this, every effort has been made
by the patrons and trustees to have
a good school. The school Board
has substantially aided thfFiir
and a large number of men of the
community have given time, labor
and money sufficient to put the build
ing in excellent conditio —re-cover
ing and repairing the building where
necessary. The tottering chimney
and fireplace have been removed and
heaters will be used to heat the build
ing. Upon opening the doors a spot*
lessly clean floor and rows of clean
desks met the eye. The walls were
decorated with numbers of pictures
of educational value, and many flow
ers made the room attractive.
Short devotional exercises were led
by the teacher, Mis.-, Ilene O'Kelley.
After a brief talk by Miss O’Kelley
i/i regard to the school work, the trus?
tees and a number of tin patrons
present, each in a few words pledged
their allegienee to the school.
The indications are for a first class
school this fail and winter
