the News this season -came in Mon
day by mail, and was plucked on
July Ist by J. H. Rousey on the
Long place near Watson’s Mill. Mr.
Rousey is using poison mixed by Mr.
Pope Wright, and says he can ha’. dly
find a live weevil.
The second bloom brought in was
by Mr. Earnest Whitehead on the
2nd of July. Since that time a num
ber Have been reported.

Grove, near here July 4th.
At an early hour this morning the
pits were piping hot and the aroma
of cooked carcasses very much in
evidence.
i Dancing was indulged in by the
younger set.
After a great spread which Hor
en joyed by all present Mr. Ed Bar
nette, as master of ceremonies, in a
short snappy talk, showered thanks
and congratulations on the genial
host, followed by Messers Grilfeth,
Greene, Daniel and others.
The afternoon was spent in swim-
ruing, games and other amusements.
Prizes were, awarded Mrs. Rambo,
Mr. .Wilkerson, Mr. K. S. Sims,
E. P. Thornton.

AT MEADOW CHURCH
As has already been announced
through the columns of this paper the
Sunday School Convention of the He
bron Baptist Association will con
vene with Meadow Baptist Church,
Madison County, on Thursday and
Friday, July 13th and 20th, 1323.
The Convention will be called to or
der promptly |at ten o’clock a. m.
Eastern time. Attention is called to
this meeting in order that each Sun
day School may take up the matter
immediately of seeing to it that, it
has representation both days. Co-op
eration and interests are essential
to the success of this convention.
Pastors, Sunday School superintend
ents, teachers and officers generally
are urged to call this matter to the
attention of thejr people.
Last year emphasis was placed up
on the general idea of “making the
Sunday School a Real School.” This
year the discussions will center a-
r/ound the Superintendent and the
j Teacher. The good people of Mead
ow church are making preparations
to entertain the convention in royal
style, and this with the excellent pro
gram that has been arranged will
afford two days of real interests and
instruction to those who attend . Each
subject will be under direction of
an able speaker. However, it is de
sired that all think about the program
and come prepared lo make some
contribution to the discussions.
