THE UANIELSVILLE MONITOR. OAMfELSVIfXE, •*.
TO THE VOTERS OF MADISON
COUNTY:
I freely gave my consent lor my
son, Frank A. Holdtn, to run f,or
Congress because he has a disposi
tion to lead a public life and he is
capable, in my opinion, or making a
success in it if given an opportunity
to ::ervt. In ruy opinion, he is about
the right age to go to Congress. If
elected, he would be in his >j2nd year
when he took his seat. Many from
Georgia have gone to Congress much
younger.
If he is to lead a public life, he
should begirt it and the study Of gov
ernmental problems while he is
young. Mv observation is that many
of those who have made the greatest
success in public service are thost
who began it while young.
I would never have consented for
him to makt the race if I had not
thought that, if elected, he would
make a creditable record and render
efficitnt and satisfactory service.
From the information I have, the
indications are that he will win the
race.
I am glad to know that the race is
one frte from bitterness. I -shall
have no unkind feelings towards
anyone who may see fit to vote a
gajnst my son, but it is my tamest
hope that the people of this County
will support him. This County was in
the old Northern Circuit over which
I presided for seven years, and I
have always had the kindest feelings
toward the people in it. I feel as
much interest in my son’s race as if
it were my own, and I would hate
very much to see this County go a
gainst him.
Very truly,
Horace M. Holden
