John Prank Graham, Chas Baker, and Hope Griffeth of the U. of Ga. are spending their little commence ment time with home folks. Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Griffeth had as their guests Sunday, Mr. and Mrs Walter Roper and young son of Ath ens. Mr. W. P- Meadow and Miss Lu cy Meadow were in Athens Friday. Rev. J*hu A. Simpson will fill the pulpit at the Presbyterian I church Sunday morning and evening. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Murray, Sa rah Ruth and Roy Jr. were visiting Roy’s mother, Mrs. Nell Murray in Athens on last Sunday afternoon. Mrs. W D. Ghoiston and Lucy Ghoiston motored to Athens on last Saturday. Miss lanthie McOannon spent the past week end in Comer with rela tives . Don’t fail to go out to the School Auditorium on Friday evening for the program to be presented by the Glee Club from State Normal School Athens. It’s going to be good, so staying!, nt home means you miss a treat that’s in store for you. Interesting and appropriate ser vices were held at the Methodist S. S. Sunday morning observing chil dren day. The children rendered their program well. Welcome—by Mary Hutcherson Recitation—five children Recitation—fifteen children Address by Mr. Adams, and “Where the Collection goes,” by Lovic Ad ams. ■ Mrs. .T. H. Boggs was at piano. A large number were out at the different Sunday Schools Sunday morning. Good many older peonle seem to have gotten back into the fold. They should. Our old friend Leek Landers came in Sunday for a short while, stopping at his sisters, Mrs. Bessie Long. We are glad to have him with us a fcain. Bob was looking pretty and inquired about his old friends in the county. Mrs. Wyatt Bullock returned Sunday from Athens where she vi - ited her son, J. R. Bullock. E. M. Gordon and son and Guy Hardman of Diamond Hill were here Tuesday. Mrs. L. E. Greene who has been sometime at a hospital in Athens is now able to be moved to the home of her friend,, Mrs. Haygcod, on Cobb street—although slid will be compelled to visit the hospital daily for treatment before being able to return to her home here. Leonidas Eugene Jr. is still exercising his rights as a full American citizen. Wheeler Ingram a substantial farmer from near Friendship was here Monday. “Wheel” says things are better around his community and farmers are well up with their work. Miss Marie Barrow, who is doing a great work as head ®f the Musical Department of our school enjoyed a few days with her parents and “friend” at Reynolds, Ga. last week Mrs. R. C. DANIELSVILLE BAPTIST MISSIONARY SOCIETY The Woman’s Missionary Society held its regular monthly meeting at the church Wednesday afternoon. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Leila Bond, and opened with Scripture reading. This was followed by prayer by the President. The minutes were read by, Mrs. R. H. Graham and were approved as read. The treasurer’s report was made by Mrs. W. D. Graham and the society voted to send the offering for W. M. U, Specials Mrs. Comers Moore made a splen did report on personal service. Mrs. R. C. Griffeth and Mrs. R. were ; appointed to ar range the Program for our next meeting. After an inspirational talk on Missionaries to China by Mrs. Leila Bond the meeting came to a close with prayer by Mrs. R. T Broome. —Reporter SUNDAY SCHOOLS AT DANELSVJLLE There were 206 t in Sunday School at the three Sunday S*hools at Dan ielsville Sunday morning a week ago. This is a good attendance, above the average. While you think of it con sidering the n'umber that out of town there is not cne half of the entire town Sunday s:hool at tendants. All the Sunday schools here are glad to welcome all. How about making a “drive” for better and larger Sunday schools. THINK IT OVER. MISS RUBY JENKINS HONORS % TRUSTEES OF M. C. H. S On last Thursday cven'ng Miss Ruby Jenkins, Domestic Science teacher, ass.sted by the young ladies of the eleventh grade, entertained the trustees of the Madison County High School with a delicious four course dinner. The’ Domestic Sci ence room, where the dinner wnj served, was charmingly decorated with a profusion of spring flowers. The table had as its centry decora tion two lovely silver candle {sticks, aglow with unshaded tapers. Miss Jenkins is doing a- great work in th s department and the young ladies are thoroughly inter ested . / The dinner was prepared and served by Miss Jenkins, Missez Madge Higginbotham, Rea Sartain, Willie McGarity, Blanche and Lois Mealor, Lucy Ghoiston and Flora Ellie Stribling. Those enjoyirg fhe hospitality were: Messers N. ‘Cf. Bullock, J H. Boggs, R. C. Grif feth, C. E. Adams, Dr. W. D. Ghoiston and D. A. Moseley. Short talks were made by those present and a m*st delightful evening spent. MRS. ALEWINE DIES Mrs. N. M. Alewinc, a very high ly respected old lady, died last Mon day morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank McElreath, near here. She has been a member of the Methodist church since she came into this county about 25 yrs. ago, having that simple faith in Je sud to deliver her soul into eternal happiness. She w surv.ved by sev eral children and grandchildren. Her children are: six boys—Joe Callie, Veal, Curtis, Buddy, and Paul; 3 girls, all married—Mrs. Cora Hig ginbotham, Mrs. Leila Pearson, Mrs. Bertie McElreath. She was interred at Moons Grove church at two o’clock Tuesday af ternoon, Rev. M. G. Allen officia ting. By A. B. HOLDS MONTHLY MEETING The Woman’s Missionary Society I °f Ba Baptist church held its regular | meeting Monday afternoon at the .home of Miss Maude Gurley with eighteen ladies present. The meeting was opened by sing, ing 0 Zion Haste. The Bible fetu. dy was the twenty-fifth chapter of of Matthew. The subject for study was Present day .executions in Eu rope. V special prayer was offered for the suffering in these countries. Differet members discussed our work and told something of the hardships the 'Christians have to undergo in each of the following: JJugo—Slavia, Hungary, Roumania, Spain and Rus sia . The study of the W. M. U. Man uel was taken up. At least two chapters will be studied at each meet ling. A committee was appointed to look after having the church painted on the inside. Green, representing the Committee 'of Education of the Southern Presbyterian Church, was here last week for a conference with church officers regarding Ihe work now being conducted throughout Georgia for the removal of Columbia Seminary from Columbia, S.
