are indeed news gatherer
Zd alert to that which is progressive
an d worth while, giving wholesome
matter for their readers and whte
sheets in every respect.
At 3:00 o’clock we boarded the
City of Chattannooga of the Ocean
Steamship Co’s fleet and we . just
vant to tell you folks it is indeed
a palace to behold. Her state roms
are lovely and comfortable and her
service is beyond expectation. Man
a_live, we never saw as much to eat
as could be handed one man—every
imaginable fish, fresh meat, vege
table and other delicacies were hand
ed out and yet more to spare. The
S. S. is 401 feet long and is esuip
ped with all necessities to make a
voyage enjoyable and happy. Be
sides her passengers, which on this
trip was around 200, she was lad
ened with freight, tons of food :n
fresh meats, vegetables, eggs, coffee,
sugar, milk, and every thing imag
inable to eat. However we sha’l
confess nil these dekcacies could r.ot
appeal to our appetite because we
Were busy letting things out of our
mouth instead of putting things in.
we even let go cabbage, onions, Eng
lish peas, Irish potatoes, that the
lady on our left had planted in the
garden at home many months previ
ous. Oh, my—golly we were sick—
way past sick—and remained in
this uncomfortable condition until
3:00 P. M. Sunday when we began
to come to ourselves and had a de
lightful voyage. The S. S. Comtva
ny gave us cvcy attention and we
shall ever feel grateful to their man
agement—Mr. TANARUS,. A. Downs, the
president and wife, Mr. and Mrs.
An nervine. General P.us°enger Agt.,
and Mr. Book. Geul Frt. Agt, as

MR. PAUL SHANK INJURED
We are indeed sorry to learn of
the serious accident of Mr. Paul
Shank which occurred recently on
his farm in Wilkes County.
Mr. Shank was plowing with a
tractor and from meager details we
leam that he was caught in the plow,
and injured severely in both feet
and legs and is now at local hospital
aad from what we can learn no am
putation will be necessary.
Paul will be remembered here as
the son of Rev. J. A. Shank who
filled the pulpit at the Baptist church
here for quite a while, and married
Miss Dolly OTtelley.
