Joe a Thomas who is now pastoriug m that beautiful city. The Savannah are indeed news gatherer Zd alert to that which is progressive an d worth while, giving wholesome matter for their readers and whte sheets in every respect. At 3:00 o’clock we boarded the City of Chattannooga of the Ocean Steamship Co’s fleet and we . just vant to tell you folks it is indeed a palace to behold. Her state roms are lovely and comfortable and her service is beyond expectation. Man a_live, we never saw as much to eat as could be handed one man—every imaginable fish, fresh meat, vege table and other delicacies were hand ed out and yet more to spare. The S. S. is 401 feet long and is esuip ped with all necessities to make a voyage enjoyable and happy. Be sides her passengers, which on this trip was around 200, she was lad ened with freight, tons of food :n fresh meats, vegetables, eggs, coffee, sugar, milk, and every thing imag inable to eat. However we sha’l confess nil these dekcacies could r.ot appeal to our appetite because we Were busy letting things out of our mouth instead of putting things in. we even let go cabbage, onions, Eng lish peas, Irish potatoes, that the lady on our left had planted in the garden at home many months previ ous. Oh, my—golly we were sick— way past sick—and remained in this uncomfortable condition until 3:00 P. M. Sunday when we began to come to ourselves and had a de lightful voyage. The S. S. PAUL SHANK INJURED We are indeed sorry to learn of the serious accident of Mr. Paul Shank which occurred recently on his farm in Wilkes County. Mr. Shank was plowing with a tractor and from meager details we leam that he was caught in the plow, and injured severely in both feet and legs and is now at local hospital aad from what we can learn no am putation will be necessary. Paul will be remembered here as the son of Rev. J. A. Shank who filled the pulpit at the Baptist church here for quite a while, and married Miss Dolly OTtelley. * MT.
