About seven o'clock last night a col

Harvey, who lives on Spring street, at
tempted to kindle a fire with kerosene.
She took a can of oil and poured some
into the stove, when the whole exploded.
The burning oil was scattered all over the
woman, and very soon she was eaveloped
a sheet of flames, and in this condition
ran shrieking out of the house and up a
neighboring alley. Her screams were
terrific, and the negroes living near made
no effort to relieve her, but on the con
trary sought to get out her way.
Mr. Alex. Blue, who livod near, heard
tho cries of the woman, and seeing the
condition ahe was in, Boixed a blanket
from a bod, ran out and soon wrapped it
around tho woman, extinguishing the
Homos.
But the poor woman was burned almost
beyond all hope. The clothing was all
burned from her, and some portions of
lu-r person were fairly roasted. Dr.
Iilackshoar wna culled to sco her, and did
what care and skill could do for her relief;
but ho has little hope that she will over
recover.
