PROCLAMATION
To Amend Section* of the Constitution
of the sate of Georgia,.
Executive Department, Atlanta, Ga
July 28. 1894.—Whereas, The general
assembly of Georgia, *t eh* «e*alon of
1893, passed the following three (3) set*
to mend the constitution of -Che state,
to-wit:
No. 104
An adt to amend paragraph 1 of sec
tion 2 of article 6 of the constitution
of this state, so as Co increase the
number of judges of the supreme
court of this state from three to five,
'to oonelst of a chief justice and four
Mfodate Justice*.
Section 1. Bo it enacted toy -the gen
eral assembly of the elate of Georgia,
and It 1* hereby enacted by authority
of tbs some, that the constitution of the
state 4>o amended 'by adding after, the
worde "chief Justice" in the second
line of the tlrst paragraph of section 2,
article 6 thereof -the words "and four
associate Justices," In lieu of the word*
In said -line, “and ttwo associate Jus
tices,” so (hilt said paragraph When
amended shall read: "The supreme
court shafll oooolat of a chief justice
and four associate justices. A majority
of the court ahall constitute a quo
rum.”
Sec. 1. Be it further enacted, Than
whenever th* above proposed amend
ment to the constitution shall be agreed
to by lwo-th1rii» of the member* elect
ed to eaoh of the two houses of the
genera) ussembly, ■ the governor *huli,
and ho la hereby ladChorlxed and In
structed to cause said amendment to
be published hi at least two newspa
pers In each congressional district In
this state for 'the period of two months
next preceding the time of holding the
next general election.
Sec. 3. Be It further enacted. That
the above proposed amendment ehnll
be eubmltted for ratification or rejec
tion to the electors of this state «t the
next general election to be held after
publication, aa provided for In he sec
ond section of this act,.4n the several
election distrusts of this state, at which
olectlon every person ,»hall be qualified
to vote who 1s onMtied to vote for mem
bers of the general assembly. All per-
sons voting at satd election In favor
of adopting the proposed .amendment
to tho constitution shall have printed
or written on *thelr ballots the words:
"For ratification of the amendment of
paragraph 1 of section 2 Of article 6
of the constitution," and all persona
opposed to -the adoption of said amend
ment shall have written or printed on
Chclr ballot* the 'words: "Against rati
fication of the amendment of para
graph 1 of aectlon 2 of article 6 of the
constitution.”
Sec. i. Bo It further enacted, That
the governor he, and he Is, hereby au
thorized and directed to provide for the
submission of the amendment proposed

vote of the people as required 'by 'the
constitution of tills state, tn paragraph
1 of section 1 of 'article IS. and by this
act, and, It ratified, the governor shall,

supremo court, one of whom shall

this amendment shall be agreed to by
two-thirds of the members of the gen

the governor shall cause th* amend
ment to be published In one or more

preceding the general election, and the

as. Robert W. Patterson did, on Feb
ruary 1, 1890, execute and deliver to
the Scottish American Mortgage Com
pany, 'limited his deed to the lands
hereinafter described for the purpose
of securing a debt referred *to in the
said deed, which deed la recorded in
the clerk's office of Bltto superior oourt.
Now, therefore, by virtue of tho
power so vested in the undersigned,
which iB more accurately shown by
reference -to aald deed, aald company
will sell at public outcry to the high
est bidder for cash, on the first Tues
day in August next, during the legal
hours of sale, before the court house
door at Macon, the lands described in
the aforesaid deed of R. W. Patter
son, viz.:
One farm lying in the Seventh dis
trict of Bibb county, Ga., bounded
north by lands of R. M. Patterson;
east by lands of John Adkins, and pub
