It ts One bf the Mo*t Popular and Pro
gressive Roads In the South.
You can’t keen the'Macon and North
ern railroad down. While all the rail
roads in the state are busy consolidat
ing. the Macon and Northern is putting
on fresh frills every day and improving
its passenger service in a truly wonder
ful manner.
For quite a while the Macon and
Northern has operated a through train
service to the North and East via the
Seaboard Air Line. The route has
grown very popular and this last move
will prove a finishing touch to the moat
elegant passenger service out of Macon,
Yesterday afternoon the pai*ens*r
train came in with two handsome Pull
man cars attached. They are the finest
In the service nnd from now on will be
carried by the Macon and Northern to
un i fr., m Athens, where the cars are
taken by the Seaboard Air Line on to
the North.
On the cars that came dbwn yesterday
were Messrs. B: A. Newland and W. I.
Flournoy, travelling passenger agent* of
the Seaboard Air Line. "We are com
ing down," they snid, "to carry the
Knights of Pythias to Washington over
the slickest route tn existence. This
train will he operated permanently in
connection with our line—the Seaboard
Air Line—and we propose to show Ma
con a first class passenger service. Our
scenery is truly grand and it Is an en
tirely new road, constructed in the most
perfect manner and daily growing more

state divisions to compel the divisions
to take other route*, the majority will

Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama,
Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina
and Virginia on one grand apeclal train,
placing them at the steamer's wharf at
Portsmouth. Va.. where they will have
an opportunity of passing through Nor
folk harbor. Hamtpon Roads, made fa
mous by the battle between the Monitor

Comfort. Fortress Monroe; up the his
toric Potomac river, nasiing Mount Ver

DEATH OP AN INFANT.
Tho Six-months-old Child of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Bryant Died Wednes
day.
On Wednesday the slx-months-old
child of Mr. nnd Mrs. Charles Bryant,
living on Boundary street, died of con
gestion of tho brain, after quite a long
sickness.
Mr. Brynnt, who is an engineer on
the Georgia Southern and Florida rail
road, tvns telegraphed tor, but did not
arrive before Uls little child died. The
funeral took -place yesterday. The
grief stricken parents have tho heart
felt sympathy of the entire community
in their deep bereave/ient.

bliss, stenographer nt tho Empire Mills
in this city, nnd Jim Corbett, collector
for the Bee Hive store, luid a pleasant
tussle tins afternoon nt the mills.
Chambliss struck Corbett rather se
verely In tlio eye. which nettled him,
when ho dealt Chambliss a blow over
the heart with all of Ins power. Cham
bliss fell to the ground nnd expired In
n few moment*. The deceased was
about 18 years old nud It Is stated had
suffered considerably with heart affec
tion. Corbett Is ubuut 20 years ot age
and Is deeply distressed, ns the hoys
