There never was a nrone impressive re
union than that held in Cartersvllle to
day, when the representatives of five
generations of the Jones family assem
bled to celebrate the 89th birthday of
Grandfather R. H. Jones.
The services were opened at the resi
dence at 10:30 o'clock by Rev. W. F.
Qulllian. Old fashioned hymns wore
sung by those present and an interest
ing talk was made by Grandfather
Jonea of his past life. He is milt in
good health, but almost blind and help
less. His daughter. Mias Mollie Jones,
has devoted her whole life to his com

Grandfather Sam Jones has four sons,
two grandsons in the ministry, efghty-
4x children and grandchildren living,
and thirty dead.
One of the visitors. Mr. W. L. Kil
patrick, Is 107 years old, can read ordl-
ary print, and has lived nearly all of
his life in Fulton county. Dinner was
served at 1 O’clock. It was a regular
love feast throughout.

Griffin, Aug. IS.—(Special.)—The ex,

has come tb a conclusion.
The hearing and determination of the
writ of mindamua before Judge Harde
man resulted In the ordinary’,) mins a
demurrer to the DeUUon on a number
of grounds. After argument on the de
murrer the court sustained It and dis
missed the mandamus.
The Judge stated that he did not be
lieve a primary election was on election
contempl ated by the not that prohibited
the prohibition election 4n the same
month, but that he did not think a
mandamus was the proper remedy.
The prohtbltibnlsts. therefore, are get
ting up another petition and will sub
mit It to the ordinary and ask for an
eleotlon In September. There Is, how
ever, a primary election In September
for county officers, and it Is interesting
lb know lust what the ordinary will do
with this new petition.
CLEVELAND ON AN OUTING.
Jersey City, Aug. 10.—President
Cleveland's train arrived at 12 o'clock.

CHOLERA IN PRUSSIA.
Berlin, Aug. 10.—Pour fresh case* of
cholera were reported In East Prussia
yesterday. One bargeman died. An
other patient is a Uhlan trooper. Sev
eral cases of cholera and two deaths
are reported from tho district of Kolo-
man. The water of the river Netxo Is
said to he Infected.
There have been no fresh oases of
cholera at Cologne. An examination
of tho water of tho Rhine showed no
sign of Infectlbn.

JOHN QUINCY ADAMS BURIED.

Hon. John Quincy Adams was held this
afternoon from hie late residence, at Mt.
Wollaston. The business part of the city
was In mourning, end the flags on all
public building and many prlvato houses
were at half-mast all day. In accordance
with a request from the family, services
were strictly private and very elmple.
The remains were taken to Mt. Wollaston
cemetery and Interred In the family lot.
