THE MACON TELEGKAl'H: TUESDAY MOUSING, OCTOBER 2, 1891.
MACON. IS FAST
FILLING UP
With Strangers'and People From Other
Places Seeking for a Good and
Healthful Place to Live.
TWENTY-NINE FROM BUTLER
SVlthln til* Peat Two Montlia Tnolp
atlns of ilie U.it Cllluni of Duller
lleve moved lo Slocoa, and
Store Will Soon Follow.
That Macon is rapidly increasing in
population and becoming .the Mecca
for people looking for a home where
they will-have all the .advantages of
a live, progressive and , enterprising
business city, Is evidenced by the fact
that within the past two months twen
ty-nine people have como here to live
from tlte little town of Butler alone,
and thero are others to follow.
Macon extends a warm welcome to
each new citizen and Is especially
proud of those from Butler, as they are
till Intelligent, cultured people of high
standing. Thoy will prove to be good
citizens and will And that they havo
como to the right place. Among the
number who have recently moved here
from Butler are Mr. It. A. Gambrert,
who comes to take a position with .Mr.
Plant in the Insurance business; Mr.
and Mrs. Jones Reed, who will take
charge of Mercer boarding department;
Mrs. A. R. Walker, wlio comes to put
her children In Macon’s superb schools,
nnd Mrs. k; a.. U'mcs, who will movo
here next week. It Is -said that other
kootj citizens of Butter : arc also’ eon
templa ting coming to Macon. V
The above Is only one, instance iMtlie
many people who are moving’ to .Mti-*
con, and other towns and cities In
the jjtato are losing ninny of their bests
citizens, wlio come, to Macon, look
uround a day or two and, becoming sat-
Islied that this Is where they waut to
locate,., «'tt]e down. ■ ii
Tlte. best way to toll of a city’s
growth Is by Its number of vacant,
bouges. A few months ago there was
a largo number of vacant houses. .In
Macon, but the real estate men say
that It Is an actual fact that thoy uow
have some dlfllculty in finding bouses
for people who make application -to
them. This state of affairs Is encour
aging and 'Macon will find room for
all who como. Thorc .are many capi
talists fh Mnoon who will put iliolr
money': In Improved dwelling houses if
the demand becomes greater, thau the
supply, nnd there need be no fear of
not being able to find a house.
Another Indication of tho large num
ber of newcomers is tile many new
faces seed on tho streets every day.
Whore several months ago the streets
looked dull and nearly everybody
knew everybody they saw on tho
streets, the picture lias changed won
derfully and now the streets present
an anlmaited appearance and many
strangely are among the large throng.
