Tomorrow an election will be held in
every congressional district In Georgia
tot congressmen. K . *
Throughout the state the election will
be exciting; and'with the exception of
the .Tenth district! perhaps more Inter
est centers on the Sixth than any dis
trict in the state. The Sixth is onu of
the largest and most influential dis
tricts in the static and the Populist*
will resort to desperate measures <to
carry it. They are emboldened by tho
slight gains made In the state elec
tion and expect to make a still better
showing in tomrrow'8 election on ac
count of Indifferent Democrats remain
ing away from: the polls. In every
county In tbo district they are fully
organized and are making a strong of*
fort to get the negro vote, which so
materially aided them in the »tabe elec
tion. Promises of everything, includ
ing the sun, moon and stars, to say
nothing of forty acres and a mule, are
being made to the deluded negroes in
some counties iu roe district and they
expect by them alluring and glitter
ing promises to poH almost the entire
negro vote, which, as there is no Re
publican candidate In *the race, is for
tho most, open to tiro party offering the
best inducements.
Judge Bartletit, the Democratic nom
inee, oaa made a hard and honest fight.
Ho has made no promises that he can
not and will not fulfil and he goes Into
tomorrow's contest five from all politi
cal encumbrances. Since his nomlua*
lion toy tlie Indian. Spring convention
several months ago ne has .worked
harder than any rnan lu thie state ror
Democracy. In the state campaign he
was oire of the mc*>t prominent figures
and there was hardly a day that he
did not make a speech somewhere.
Hut tills has always loeen characteristic
of Charley Bartlett. Since reaching i >»
majority he has been lanoring in the
cause of Democracy and now the Dem
ocracy of the Sixth congressional dis
trict has am opportunity <to show i<ts
appreciation of Ills services. There
never lived a man tvtko was truer to
all trusts reposed Ju him, truer to his
friends, truer to his party or his coun
try touan Charley Bartlett, and Geor-
gia, and particularly Macon and the
bixth district, owes him u debt of grat
itude that can never be fully paid.
Since the contest began Judge Bart
lett has won the uouorlquet of the
"game cock of Bibb" on account of the
game fight he has made. He has done
no crowing, however, but has put In
some haixl lighting that has had telling
effect.
There will be no registration required
for voting in the election tomorrow
and every qualified voter can vote
whether lie has registered or not. This
w.iti divided by Judge Speer two years
ago and ugain by Judge Honey In Au
gusta on Saturday.
Bibb county has about 9,000 qualified
voters and there Is no reason in the
world why Judge Bartlett should not
get 5,000 majority out of this number.
All that is necessary to give 5,000 ma
jority is for the people to vote. Every
man who Is qualified should vote for
Judge Bartlett and good government.
Every Democrat should vote and urge
his neighbor to vote. If one or more
of the committees do not call cm you
to vote, vote anyhow. Voting Is the
only way to insure the election otf Judge
Bartletit, and a tolg majority In Bibb la
necessary. Let everybody so arrange
their affairs as to be able to vote to
morrow, and let all who can begin to
day to see their friends and urge them
to vote. 1 -r*
