It waa fully In keeping with the
l>rcdal spirit now prcvnlcnt In Macon
that, following tho recent fobberlt-M of
many luxuriously fitted homca and
abundantly atoVkcd grocerlc* and
■tores, an untenanted, wholly empty
house should be burglarised.
Though sremlngly paradoxical, It Is
true nevertheless. The residence soon
to be occupied by Mr*. Hickey at !»•
orange street, a few doors below
Osorgla avenue, wo* entered some
time Friday night and relieved of
all its slcctrlo lighting fixture*. In
cluding wires, ohandrller*. globes end
switches. Enough was taken to com
pletely fit up a system In another
house.
Before leaving the burglars muat
have looked around for something else
to carry away. There was nothing,
not a thing In the houae. except key*.
These, some eight or ten In number,
and of the ordinary kind, were In the
locks of the various doors. Ho they
wsr# made a part ef tho loot.
The new tenants state that ther*
l« a bath tub left In the house, and
although It la securely fastened down
and connected with pipes and ths liko
they fear that upon a return visit It
may he secured. Accordingly, the po

the service* of a detective required.
U Is probable that a special officer
