NEW YORK, Dec. 22—The board of
directors of the Chesapeake and Ohio
Railroad Compahy has decided upon
the authorization of an Issue of $30,-
000,000 general funding and Improve
ment mortgage bonds.
The purpose of the issue Is to refund
the $7,500,000 six per cent notes of
the company which will be cnlled for
payment on January tot next, nnd to
orovide funds to meet a portion of tho
heavy annual requirements heretofore
substantially met out of earnings, on
account of equipment previously pur
chased, as well as for future capital
requirements for additions, permanent
Improvements, new equipment, etc.
The amount to be Issued at the pres
ent time Is $11,000,000 and the bond will
l 20-yenr five per cent bond, callable
at 107Mi per cent. The bonds have
been sold to Messrs. Kuhn Loeb and
Company, and J. P. Morgan and Com
pany.
