Jen S.—The Kay term of the Superior
Court, that haa been in action here for Iho
put two weeka and a half, adjourned
Jut Wednesday, after accomplishing
unusual amount of woik. It will recon
vene July 3rd, and all remaining cases
vill then be tried. BolHtor-General Boy
kin Wright, succeeded in securing a num
ber of convictions for tbe State.
Candidate* for the next Legislature are
becoming quite numerous. Many names,
, comprising able and efficient men, have
been suggeafed. I may mention Judge H.
E. W. Palmer, Col. Jesse Wimberly, Phil.
P. Johnson, T. D. Oliver, Esq., and two of
tbe present incumbents, Dr. E. A. Perkins
and Cnpt 8. J. He ;th. Thero prevails a
quantity of available material, nod there
ta no reason w by Burke should not send a
i»**.ong delegation. Any of the abova named
gentlemen would represent her faithfully
and ably.
That wearsto have a county fair next
fall is novnt* yond the shadow of a doubt.
Tbo association to which previous reference
has been made, ie oomposed of able, ener
getic men, who are alive to their interests,
and who will not let the good work lag.
They are already driving arrangement* to
a successful completion
In the midst of tha intense Interest man
ifested in the above subject, the artesian
well boom temporarily suffers neglect. >> e

; a well of rare. living water would bo
greatly conducive to health in this climate,
and there ia no reason why Wayueabc.ro
should not havo ono of there modem ne
oeseitie*.
Bicy cling still prevails extensively. Be
aides, we have bore a young pedestrian who
bids fair to rival Howell, Leiry or any
other champion of the belt. He is modes',
and for that reason, I wiil net give his
name at present; but he to a grocery clerk

Dr. J. W. Cooler, the gen : al dentist from
Louisville, ia smiling benignly upon our
community. It to said that the Doctor is
becoming gently aesthetic; be haa even beon
beard to marmor something about tha sil
ly being “Too quits excessively beyond.”
It to rumored that the extent of his trans
gression 1ms even led him to venture ar.
occasional pun. It to indeed too utterly
awful!
In the midst of fair associations, art'
ll sian walls, etc., it is tnid that a young at
torney of our bar still finds time to indulge
in pastoral amui-ements. Since the ml
jonrumtnt of court hi* dally experiences
prove the moat charming of idyls. Upon
a toft couch be takes bis strata, and in the
dreams that float through bia mind, tbe
culture of ducks forma conspicuous por
tion.
If yon will excuse a alight digref sion, I
Will incidentally remark that th i facetious
scribe who build'jokes for the funny de
partment of the Citizn. has at last risen to
explain that shot-gun business. He say s,
in effect, that his artillery is
to be exchanged for a calf,
provided the Iguruairtf's correspondent
at tbia place ran be had for a shotgun. Ho
wants something to amuse him during the
cummer campaign. Hie explanation is
ingenious, but I fail to see bow a calf can
prove a source of amursmeut to a donkey.
What affinity or bond of association (here
can possibly be between a cow and a mule,
that the one can amuse the other, is in
explicable, except on tha prinoiple, "small
minds are easily amused.” It hit mule-
■hip. tha Citizen, ie preparing recreation
