ing a fine clay road from Vidalia to*
ward church and South Thomp
son. The report that he had quit clay
ing the roads is a mistake, as the road
he is building now will be one of the
best in the county.
The Ne w automobile purchased by
Hon. E. J. Giles, kicked back while he
was cranking it off Monday morning
and his arm near the wrist whs badly
hurt. The arm was not .broked, it
seems, but the injury was very pain
ful and the Colonel will not be able to
use it for sometime.
The editor was in the hustling little
city of Vidalia Monday and we met
many good friends. We spent the day
pleasantly, had very good luck collect
ing and we had a very pleasant ride
back home in Mr. Frank Darby’s hand
some Buick car. Vidalia is going a
head rapidly and we could see evidence
of prosperity on every side.
The stores in Lyons have a Spring
appearance, especially those that sell
milliuary. Mr. B. F. Brown’s head
inillioer is on hand and she is now
opening her line. Miss Pope and her

Driving Night Without Light
Mr. Editor There ar<| doubtless
dangers about ds of which we have no
knowledge, but w|ieq one is seen lying
. across our pathway, it is well for us at
least, to take notice of it’s presence.
Such we have in our midst and we see
it most daily (or nightly.) I allude to
the operating of automobiles without
a light after nijght fall. This may seem
an insignificant matter but after some

Young Women’s Auxiliary.
On Sunday morning, March 12th, the
Young Women’s Auxilliary met at the
Baptist churoh and was re-organized.
The following officers were elected for
the ensuing yeas:

Miss Jadie Mae Martin, President.
Miss Maggie L. Walker, Vice-Presi
dent.
Miss Georgia Lee Martin, Secretary.
Miss Inez Walker, Treasurer.
\Ve want as many of our members as
can to attend these meetings and help
us in this good work. Our meeting
days will be every second and fourth
Sunday mornings at the Baptist church
promptly at 10 o’clock.
Let all of the members come and
those who are not members come and

The U. D. C.’s Organized
On Tuesday afternoon a meeting was
held at the home of Mrs. China, for the
purpose of completing the organization
of the Daughters of Confederacy.
Quite-a nuntber were present, prov
; ing that interest is steadily growing.

GEORGIA’ —Toombs County:
An Ordinance to regu >te the speed of auto
mobiles in the incori iite limits of the City
of Lyons to prohibit t.*>t and reckless run
ning of the same, and to require lights on the
same at night.*
Section 1. Be it enacted and ordained by
the Mayor and Council of the City of Lyons,
in regular session assembled, That it shall be
unlawful sot any person or'persons to run an
automobile withifc the incorporate limits of
the City of Lyons at a greater speed than (8)
eight miles per hours v.
Sec. B.—Be it further enacted and ordained;
That it shall be unlawful for any person or
persons to ruu an automobile in the City of
Lyons after dark without having a head-light.
Section 3.—That any person violating the I
above and foregoing sections, upon conviction i
shall bo punished as prescribed in section 94 of
the City Code of Lyons,
