A. S. Odom, we are sorry to say, is on
the sick list. He has been quite sick,

Mr. Glenn "Patrick, of Douglas, came
up Satuadny night on a visit, taking
fcack his wfe and little son, who had
been here for a week at the home of
W. L. Jones.
Dan and John Coleman, from up in
Che Garfield neighborhood, were in the
«ity last week visiting their sister,Mrs.
VV P. C. Smith. They returned to
their homes Friday.
K. P. Sweat, Cashier of the First
National, went to Nashville, Ga., Satu
rday to spend a day or so with friends
;tnd relatives and to return home with
his wife who is down there on a visit.
Col. Jackson J. Williams went down
to Claxton and later to Reidsville last
Sunday and Jack says they got off a
good one on him at the latter place-.

The Modern Concert Company is
showing here this week in their own
tent and they are having good crowds.
The ent ertaimnent is very good and
Che people are giving the company
good patronage.
li. L. Brown and wife, of Augusta,
came down this week and they are to
a pend several days with friends and
relatives. Roger is still with the Tele
phone Company and we are glad to s ay
Chat he is doing well.
W. C. Oliver and Jas. A. Sumner
have taken the agency for the Hudson
cars for three counties and they are
expecting a new demonstration car in
the next week or so. The Hudson car
is a good one and it is popular in this
section of the country.
Toombs county lost five of her white
convicts the other day all in a bunch
and among the number was Oliver, the
banker. They were ordered transfer
red to another county as Toombs had
more than she was entitled to. We
got anew life man,however .from Tatt
nall county the first of this week.
Saturday was a busy day with the
Lyons merchants and it s» > :u- that
every one wanted an Easter outfit.
New hats, new gowns, new shoes, new
clothing, ir fact everything new, and
Faster was ajbeautiful day to’‘show
off” either. The weather was threat
ening Saturday but Sunday was very
pleasant.
We are constantly hearing rumors
about changing the county line, the
latest being a quite move to bring the
Cleorgia <k Florida into the county
clear to the river. It seem that all
the people around us want to get into
Toombt, and we see where they are
right because we have the best county
in the state.
W. E. Graham and his charming
wife, of Mcßae, were in the <fity sev
eral days last and this week visiting
relatives and friends. Mr. Graham
waa at one time a resident of Lyons,
kfcing connected with the firm of Davis
A Coleman, and while here he was re
ceiving congratulations from his many
friends upon his recent marriage.
Decoration Day at Lyons
Wednesday. April 26th will he here j
ere long, bringing with it memorie- of
thebitterest strife our country has ever
known, mingled with a feeling of pride,
as we think of tne manhood our loved

On this day, all ovpr this fair land,
loving hearts are prompted to hold
Memorial services in honor of our dead
heroes, and to cover their last resting
places with beautiful flowers. Lyons,
too, on this day will do honor to the
wearers of the gray.
The Lyons Chapter of the U. D. C.,
has arranged a fitting program to be
given at the Opera House at 2 o’clock,
Wednesday,April 20th.A feature of the
occasion will be the bestowal of crosses
of honor upon the following veterans:

Cave, E S. Davis, S. L. Findley, 0. H.
Mann, Phillip Morris, A. J. McCul
lough, James H. Odom, Evan Parker.

At the close of the following pro

at the cemetery. The public is most
cordially invited to be present at this,
the first Memorial service of our city.

The Modern Concert Company are
here for a week and the tent is on the
vacant lot next to the store of F. B.
Cook. The company gives a clever en
tertainment. Mr. Hammond and his
wife and Mr. Howard beingextra clever
artists. The others in the company,
too, and all are good. They give a
clean show, worthy of patronage, and
if the weather stays good they are go
ing to do a good business in Lyons.
Our High School only has a little
over a month more to run and we are
proud to say that the term has been
very successful. In Prof. Monts we
have a man that knows how to handle
a school and he has around him a corps
of assistants thafcnvork with him. We
certainly hope that our people will
devise away to enlarge the school
buildingso that we can keep Prof.
Monts with us.
Mr. E. S. Warrock, former foreman
in the Progress composing room, came |
up from Savannah Wednesday
and he has gone down on the Altama
ha to spend a few week: at the home
of Judge S. P. Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. H. C. V llis have had
two little girls quite r .ck with measles
for a week. We are glad to say that
they are now getting better and both
will soon be up again.

Road Citation.
GEORGIA —Toombs County:
J.'W. Right. T. J. Coursey. J. C. Sapp and j
others having applied for the establishment of
a new public road commencing at the
end of the laue on the road leading from Ly
ons to Cobbtown in front of J. W. Right’s
house in the 1536th district. G. M.. and running
is a southerrly direction along lane to about 25
yards from the front of said Right’s house,
then in a ith-west direction to the end of
the lane running in front of T. J. Coursey’s
house, the:, along said lane and crossing Swift
creek at or near the ford known as the Todd
ford, thence in a south-west direction, to the
end of the ne on the Z. P. William’s piace,
there intersecting the Wilks bridge road to be
run through the lands of J. W. Eight. T. J.
Coursey and R. H. Walker and it’s length to be
about one and three-quarter miles, all of said
mad being in the 1536th district G. M.. of
Toombs county. Reviewers appointed to re
view and lay out said road having made then
report under oath, showing that said road will
be of public utility and for the convenience of
the traveling public, this is to notify all perons.
that on and after the Ist Monday in May. 19H
said new road will be Anally granted if no good
