Georgia and Podda Rail-wav.
We see from the Augusta Herald
that the Georgia & Florida Railway
h-.s just purchased four handsome new
passenger coaches from the Central
Locomotive and Car Works of Chicago
and one 00-foot combination baggage
and mail ear from th<* same company.
All of the cars are expected within a few
day. ,
The Georgia and has also
purchased two 12-section buffet and
drawing-room sleeping cars and they
are also expected within a few days.
The new passenger coaches and the
sleeping cars will be placed on the
main line between Agusta and Madi
son, Florida, and a person can go to
sleep in Agusta at night and get up
for breakfast in Valdosta next morn
ing, a distance of 222 miles.
General Passenger Agent Gattis said
that the new coaches and sleeping cars
will be a great addition to the rolling
stock on the road. When the new cars
are installed the Georgia and Florida
will have some of the handsomest
trains that come into or leave any
Southern city. There will be a sleep
ing ear on the train reaching Augusta
in the morning and the trip from Madi
son or any South Georgia or Western
Florida point can be made in splendid
comfort, the passenger being able to
.enjoy a good night’s rest and be in Au
