In order that our school may do its

rons We ask that you send us your
children and give us your encourage- '
nient and loyal support. It is very nec- ,

ident students, enter on the first day,
and not later than two weeks from the
date of opening, if they expect to re
tain their standing in their grade, and
if they would get the most from their
school advantages. We would urge the
patrons to send their children to school
on the opening day, and keep them in
school five days each week, and see
that they take an interest in their
school work at home. This will greatly
assist the teachers, and will be of un

you can help us realize this desire.
Please do not eriticise. or find fault

that the teacher is human, just as
you are, and niiy make his mistakes.
Give us your loyal support, and we
pledge you our best efforts for the

come to school with your children on
the opening day, and at any other time
you may find it convenient to do so.
This invitation is extended to the
Trustees, and to every patron and
well-wisher of our school and the cause
of education. R. M. Monts.
Birthday Celebration
Mrs. B. M. Higgs celebrated her 57th
birthday at her home last Saturday
and it was a most pleasant occasion.
AII of the children, six in number, to
gether with the thirteen grand chil
dren, were present, and all of the bro
thers and sisters with the exception of
J. J. and I>an Odom, graced this enjoy
able occation.
\ hundred or more guests altogether
were there and they had a dinner that
was fit for the kings. We know this be
cause a box was prepared and sent to
the Progress office. It was heartily en
joyed by the editor and his family.
Mrs. Higgs, we are glad to say, is in
excellent health and we are satisfied
that she will be with us for several
more birthdays, all of which we hope
will he just as enjoyable as this one.
This good family it seems is getting
along splendidly. Mr. Higgs is a good
farmer and he has at home three of the
children who are assisting in the work.
They have a beautiful place, considered
one of the best in the county and it is
a pleasure to visit there.
We are only sorry that business en
gagements kept us from being at the
birthday celebration and we hope that
the next time we will be able to go. It
means a splendid dinner and a very
pleasant time
