Buy at Home and Pay Cash.
The latest and most extensive means
of Heecing the farmers, since lighting
rods, sewing machines, ect., have been
worked to the limit, is the selling of
ranges or kitchen stoves worth not
over S3O to S4O at $75 each.
The good women in the farm homes
need these ranges and we would not
say one word against their purchase if
they were bought on a reasonable busi
ness baisis. The ranges must be paid
for sometime and since we have done
without then for all these years, w’ould
it not be the part of wisdom to put off
buying them until the time set for
paying for them in these time pur
chases? Then, with about half the
money the same range cau be bought
and the balance used for the purchase
of other conveniences needed just as
badly as the range.
We are simply appealing for common
business sense in dealing with this pro
position and protesting against the
payment of too much for these ranges.
The agents who sell these ranges are
“gilb” talkers and “slick” salesmen,
but even if you really need a range we
advise that you invite Mr. Agent to
go along to other fields and buy your
range for cash if possible, but if credit
is a necessity, of your local merchant
and save money for yourself, while
giving your local merchant and neigh
bor a reasonable profit. —The Progres
sive Farmer.

years of age and had been a member
of the Missionary Baptist church for
more than 50 years. He was honored
and respected by all who knew him,
and we miss his familiar face from the
streets, while ! • did not stay on the
streets a great leal yet almost every
day he would spend a little time on the
streets usually coming into this office
to get some papers to read

In our estimate of the cotton ship
ments from Lyons last week we missed
the mark greatly. Instead of 1700
bales being ginned in the county the
Agues should have read 2800, and in
stead of 900 bales being shipped from
Lyons, we should have said over 1700.
Lyons got considerably over one-half
of the cotton ginned in all the county.
