All the banks in the city will be
closed to-day (Friday,) it being a le

long time and not been able to come to
the city. We are glad to say that he
is gettiug better and we hope to see
him around again soon.

The Lyons boys went to Vid a ii a l aß t
Friday afternoon for a game of ball
and some of the boys say the score was
terrible. One thing is certain, our
boys got beaten and this should be a
lesson to them. They cannot play base

anyway.
Next Wednesday is the time for the
county candidates to see their fate and
they are doing much primary work to

The Progress has not yet taken any
stand in the present county fight but
we have a choice in every instance. We
will be satisfied, however,if every man
we vote for is defeated, but we hope
to be on the winning side. The tickets
are being printed and every name on
it is that of a worthy man. Don’t be
lieve any political lies that might
stain the character of any of them, but
get off to your self and make your
ticket to thinking of the
welfare of old Toombs county all the
while you are doing so. Take into
consideration the competency of each
candidate, whether he believes in go
ing forward or not and his willingness
to do right by the people. Above - all
lets don’t make any mistakes.
We understand that some of the
voters are working against Dan Gibbs
because they say he has not had the
road workedin their sections. Now,
joys you are doing wrong. Dan Gibbs
has only been in office a little over 3
months and during that time very lit
tle road work could be done, and it is
a sure thing he couldn’t have gotten
over the entire county. Put this in
your pipe and smoke it, Dan Gibbs is
going to treat all sections of the coun
ty alike. You can rest assurred that
he is going to see that you get roads
just the same as all other sections of
the county. We are not electioneering
for him, but we want to see justice
done in every instance.
The Tooinbs county primary takes
plaoe next Wednesday and the result
will be announced in the next Prog
ess. The race in this county was very
pleasant up to last week, but since
then political lies are flying and hard
feelings are fostered. Boys, we have
good men running in this county for
every office, in fact all the candidates
are good men, and it is not necessary
to resort to dirty politics.
