Mr. E. F. Parker returned from
Jackson Saturday, where he, with
Mrs. Parker and the children, had
been visiting relatives. Mrs. Par
ker will remain severa' days for
treatment for their little daughter,
Sara, who will probably have an op
eration to remove her tonsils.
Rev. John A May, of M-onteval
lo, A"a., an exangelist of the Metho
dist church, and John M. Adams, of
Tyler, Texas, a noted singer are con
ducting the revival at the Methodist
church. The pastor, Rev. Theo
Pharr reports excellent congregations
are attending.
Mrs. D. Q. Coleman spent several
days at the bedside of her brother,
near Mt. Vernon last week, who had
suffered a serious accident, having
been run over by a team of mules,
breaking some of his ribs and caus
ing other injuries. He is reported
to be improving. S
The School for Pastors, held at
Wesleyan College, Macon, Ga., last
week, was attended by Rev. Theo

church. These schools are a new
institution with the Methodist
church and Rev. Pharr believes that
they are highly beneficial.
Very agreebale visitors in the city
Monday were Dr. and Mrs. White,
of Savannah. Dr. White was former
ly with Park View Sanitarium, and
was known throughout South Georgia
because of his wide patronage and
geniael personality. He gave up his
work at Park View several months
ago and went to Texas to recover his
hea th, which had become very much
impaired. His many friends will be
glad to know that Dr. White has re
turned to Savannah.
Mr. Ernest Wimberly, who has
been teaching in Fulton High School.
Atlanta, returned home this week.
Mr. Wimberly has been playing sev
eral roles in Atlanta for the last
year. Besides winning for himse f
high esteem as a popular and effi
cient teacher, at the same time taking
his last year’s course in law at The
Atlanta Law School, he "has been an
able representative of Toombs county
in Georgia Legislature.
Among the young men and women
who are returning to home friends
at Lyons as condidates for congratu
lations upon completion of college
and university courses in Mr. James
Henry Willson, son of Mr. and Mrs.
R. S. Wiison. James has completed
a six year course in medicine at
Emory University. He will go to
Knoxville General Hospital, Knox
ville, Tenn., at an early date, for six
months, after which he will go to
Vassar Hospital, New York, for a
year, at both of which places he wi 1
pursure post graduate studies under
practical conditions.

her daughter, Leola, to Charles C.
Quillin of Dallas, Texas. The mar
riage will be solemnized in Ju'y.—

Mrs. Eliza Findley of Lyons an
nounces the engagement of her
daughter, Olive, to William Northern
Glover of Macon. The marriage
will take place the latter part of
June.
PARTY GIVEN IN HONOR OF
MISS LILLIAN SMITH
Among the social events of the
past week was the party given at the
home of Miss Dorothy Brown, in
honor of Miss Lillian Smith, from
Graceville, Fla., the attractive guest
of Miss Pauline Ivey.
The spacious living room was
beautifully decorated Nn pot plants
and cut ft owers.
During the evening a very inter
esting game of Progressive Rook
together with music, was enjoyed by
the guests. Highest score was won
by Mr. Paul Jones and Miss Pauline
Ivey. Later a delicious ice course
w'as served by Miss Vivian Brown.
Those invited were: Misses Lillian
Smith, Josephine Brantley Ruby New,
Louise Brown, Pauline Ivey and
Dorothy Brown. Messrs William
Oliver, George Lankford, Winston
Ivey, Paul oJnes and Alvin Usher.

The members of the While Away
Club were entertained Tuesday af
ternoon with a most delightful party
in honor of her house guests, Mr. and
Mrs. J. J. Breniman and Mr. and Mrs.
George Calder, of Sumter, S. C.
The hostesg introduced a very
unique contest in which Mrs. J. K. |
Hall and Mrs. W. A- McNatt won the
prizes.
A most enjoyable feature of the
afternoon was a surprise “stunt”
staged by Messrs Goddard, Bnenman
and Calder. In this the ladies were
required to exeraise their lungs with- '
out talking, whioh proved a dlTfficu t
feat. Six contestants were awarded
appropriate prizes.
A dainty luncheon was served by
Mrs. Goddrrd.
