TO THE PATRONS OF
I MARR Y DAVIS’
VITiKTAIiLIS IAIN KILLKK.
OWING to the large amount of Counterfeit
I*.in Killer put up and .-old as genuine by
unprincipled men we have been obliged to re
sort to very expensive measures to protect our
seu-es oeciiniaialy, and the public from great
injure, bv busing and using their worthless
eiiii.iierll'-lts.—The comparative plain and simpls
stvle in wh eh our l’ain Killer has been put up,
h Is m do it very easy for those disposed, to im
pute it very suecessfiiily, so far as its external
ajipeara - c.-, hi style of bottle, label and color of
the al t do ; but we need lint sav that the com
pound is a in si r .blc, lPth;. production, and cal
culated to du great injury to those who might,
use it with confidence that they have been ac
customed to use the genuine Pain Killer. Par
ties whose business it is to c; unterfeit valuable
preparations, do it. in so secret a manner, that
it i,s alme.-t useless to r.ltenipt to punish them
by legal measures, as it is difficult, and we might
s:ty impossible to bring proof home to them.
Considering the great difficulty in protecting
ourselves and the public by prosecutingpnrties,
we have been to a very great expense* in getting
up a finely executed
STEEL ENG 11.1 YET) LABEL,
f.r our bottles. We also attach to our bottles a
Steel Engraved Note of Hand, wlrcli \vc issue
as our obligation, and to counterfeit which is
held to be forgery by the laws of the United
States, and which parties will not date attempt
to do. The great, expense attending the getting
up and printing of these labels will prevent tin*
attempt to counterfeit, thus securing to the pub
lic that the article they purchase is, the genuine
Perry Davis’ Pam Killer, manufactured by Per
ry Davis k Son, Sole Proprietors.
’ The Pain Killer will be put up in anew stylw
of panne! bottle, with the words,
PA VIS’ VEGETA BLE PAIN KILLER,
blown in the Glass. We have discontinued the
use of the thirty seven and a half cent bottles,
and now put up only four sizes, viz: at 13 1-2,
25, 50 cents and §1 00 per bottle.
We have also a very fine Engraving on Stone,
for the itox labels, specifying the contents of the
Box, where aiul by whom manufactured, &c.—
We have also added to onr pamphlet of direc
tions and certificates, a cover beautifully tin'sh
ell, presenting on the first page a very excellent
likeness of Perry Davis, the original inventor of
the Pain Killer. The bottle labels, and one la
bel on each box, lias also a correct likeness of
Pury Davis, which it will be impossible to
counterfeit successfully.
We have been to this expense, that the public
might have perfect confidence that they wer#
getting the genuine article when they buy a bot
tle as above describled. To those who have so
kinged used and proved the merits of our arti
cle, we would say that we shall continue to pre
pare our Pain Killer of the best and purest ma
terials and tint it shall be every way worthy of
their app.obatioß as a family medicine.
