Several pleasure boats were blown out in the marsh at Warsaw Island below Savan nah Sunday night, but no loss of life resulted. Mrs. L. D. Allen of Cleve land, Ohio, shot her husband to death and then committed suicide. Playing burglar and trying to frighten his father, Frank Rcinecke, fifteen years old, was stabbed to death at Mt. Holley, N. J., Tuesday night. 1 R. A. Adams, convicted of murder and under sentence to hang, escaped from the jail at Walterboro, S. C, Tuesday night and has not been re .captured. The Confederate veterans held a reunion at Nashville Tuesday', Wednesday and Thursday of this week-. The .citizens of Nashville threw open their doors to the old soldiers and made the occa sion one long to be remem bered. A young Pennsylvanian lias set cut lc\ teach marriageable maidens a lesson by example. He wishes them to under stand that they have not" all of the privileges on their side, such as jilting a man to be jilted just as much ns it hurts a girl, therefore, he has ap pealed to a court to give lain $5,0c0 damages against the girl who jilted him after an engagement of live, months. Emilio Agumaldo, according to advices received in Wash ington. Will leave Manila next month for a trip to the United States. He contem plates visiting''due St. Louis Exposition, as well as Wash ington, New York and other large cities. It would doubt less be a good thing to have the leader of the late Filipino insurrection come to the Uiri . ted States. What he would see would impress him of the size, richness and power of . this country and make him understand the futility.of his people struggling against their fate. Aguinaklo would be well received in this coun try, especially in Boston. When a woman stops crying over her troubles it's assign that she lias resumed the e: lehration i I' her birthday anniversary. It is probable that there will he lively fights in the national conventions of both of the great political parties on the polygamy question. It is un derstood that anti-nob '.mv resolutions have been ( r will he) prepared for introduction into both of the conventions; but the Mormons are moving O) 1m id of! ad such resolutions- and all discussions of the sub- : jeet. They do not want the : question to lie raised in nat- j ional politics. The Mormons ; allege that they can swing; twenty electoral votes as thev ; | please. They declare that! they hold the balance of power| jin Utah, Idaho, Colorado,; :Wyoming and Oregon, and; that they will use that power! I to their own best advantage. A Change Needed. There should be a different plan per sued at state comcn- j tions in Georgia, particularly' in the matter of selecting a platform. In tho last conven tion those who desired to suggest plank for the platform ■ jcould do so only to the mem-1 hers of the platform comiuitee. jThe delegates to the conven tion were not put on notice | what the platform eommitte would have before them for consideration. This was all wrong. Every suggestion as to the platform should have been made to the convention land then referred to the plat form committee without debate , 1 It would not have taken up much time to have read before Uhe convention the different | suggestions made. The dele gates would then have known j what the platform committee rejected and what was accepted If this knowledge had been theirs they could have mere in telligently passed upon the plaLforin as presented.' i State conventions arc rush led to a conclusion too quickly. When a man is in a hurry he ! cannot give that consideration to a-thing it deserves, and we hope that in the future more deliberation will be given to matters when the party cf the state, through delegates duly selected, shall meet for action. —Dublin Courier-Dispatch. Just Sunshine. Did you ever stop to cons'd |Cr what is the most effective imedicine in the world? Sun ‘shine—just plain, ordinary sunshine that costs nothing and can bo had for a wish. Germs off all sorts perish in the, sun. ' Bacteria cannot | stand tho glare of Old Sol’s radiant eye. It will kill them , 1 in a few hours. :j Walk in the sun. Sit in the sun. Live with the sun beaming upon you all the time if possible. Open the , windows, let the sunshine stream into your rooms. It will purify them and make ! them more fit to live in. You may be able to live in a dark damp room for a time, but ; it will gradually undermine your health. Move into a room with a window opening . out to tile east or the west and note the difference. Wherever there is mold cr dampness, turn in a little sun shine and watclr the germs give up the ghost and die. It will silently but surely*dispose of the unwholesomeness of mildew or mold and make clean and healthful every spot it reaches. Hang out the sheets or blankets where the sun will strike them and the rays will disinfect them thorough!- - , leaving them fresh and sweet with no odors clingip.g about [-m»iu illu<-.! < -1« liii-nl piit*,. j The Old Reliable Liquor House,!
