Mr. G. L. Youmans is moving his
family to his farm this week. The
residence formerly occupied by Mr.

Miss Ladye Meadows compliment
ed her house guest, Miss Mamie Sue
Acree of Camilla, with a delightful
party last Friday evening. Eight
couples were 'present. A delicious
two-course luncheon was served.
This is moving time with many
farmers and many loads of household
goods are seen aiong the roads,
farmers moving to their new homes
and getting ready for the year’s
work in their new locations.
The college boys of the town left

Mrs. Burkhalter gave an elegant
dining Wednesday evening, compli
mentary to her sister, Miss Thelma
Purvis, of Atlanta. Seven guests
were invited to meet Miss Purvis, and
following the dinner a theatre party
was enjoyed.
The census report of cotton ginned
up to Dec. Ist show's 5,425 bales gin
ned in this county as against 6,747
ginned up to the same time last year.
In Montgomery county 3,826 bales
have been ginned, as compared with
4,476 bales last year.
Monday’s \ Macon Telegraph car
ried a news item regarding injuries
sustained by Mr*. Mike Brundage
of this place in an auto accident in
Macon Monday. It was stated that
Mrs. Brundage was severely cut by
glass from a broken windshield.

One of the prettiest social events
of the holidays was the reception
given by Miss Velma McArthur at
the home of Mrs. H. P. Willbanks
Friday afternoon. The home was
beautifully decorated with American
Beauty roses and ferns. Rook was
played, following which a salad course
was served.
“The Daughter of Dawn,” the In
dian picture which is controlled by
j Messrs. Heath «nd Banks, was pre
sented at the Colonial Theatre Tues
day afternoon and night and drew a
splendid (audience. This picture Is
the property of the Texas Film Co.,
of which Mr,. Banks is president and
! Mr. Heath a stockholder, and indi
i cations point to its being a wonderful
i movie success.

GAME WITH HIGH SCHOOL.
The basket ball game New tears

MRS. N. L. WILLIAMS DEAD.
Mrs. Noah L. Williams- died Wed
nesday afternoon at the family resi
j dence on Mclntosh street, after a
lingering illness. She is survived by
her husband and three chidren, be
sides her father and several broth
ers and one sister.
| Funeral services were held from the
home Thursday afternoon, being con
! ducted by Rev. J. T. B. Anderson.
The interment followed at Pine Crest
| cemetery.

Blocker before her marriage.

MISSES DARBY ENTERTAIN.
Misses Juel and Ruby Darby were
joint hostess Friday evening to Miss
Lorene Anderson’s house guest, Miss
Annie Fulchum of Eastman, with
a six course dinner, which v. r as otic
of the loveliest affairs of the yule
season.
As the guests acre ushered into
the dining room they saw the evi
dence of Dan Cupid’s hand. From
;he rose shadowed chandelier came
forth the soft rays of light that fell
upon the beautifully appointed table,
the center of which held a bowl of
white roses. Covets were laid for
ten, with place cards of tiny white
and rose cupids.
After dinner the young people com
posed a merry theatre party, but even
then it was too early to bid adieu, so
they came back to the home of the
hostess and played rook, w atching
the old year out and welcoming the
new one.
The guests were Misses Annie Ful
chum, Eorene Anderson, Abbie Joe
Gordon, Ruby and Juel Darby, and
Messrs. Paul Powell, Lester Dttßose,
Jake Price and Onis Carter.

Mr. J. H. Duggan, the well known
city clerk and M*ss Annie Truitt, of
Swainsboro, were quietly married at
Lyons Wednesday afternoon. Judge
Rogers saying the words that made
them one. The wedding of this pop
ular couple came as a surprise t»
their friends and Thursday Mr. Dug
gan was kept busy receiving con
gratulations.
Mr. and Mrs. Duggatt are at the
Colonial Hotel for the present.

At the first meeting of the new
year held Tuesday afternoon at the
Parsonage, the W . M. S. took for
its motto for the year, “Study t'

Ashamed. ’’ and sei for its goal the
standard of excellence and complete
organization as outlined by the An
nual Missionary Council. In pur
suance of this plan superintendents
were appointed for three new de
partments not hitherto active in the
auxiliary: Division of young people,
Mrs. F,. T. Mcßride, supt. ; Baby di
vision, Mrs". A. F. Fanning, supt.;
Bible study, Mrs. L. B. Godbee,
supt. Next Tuesday afternoon the
book of Ruth will be the subject of
study and all members are requested
to come prepared for a round tabte
discussion.
