DIES SUDDENLY

DROPS DEAD TUESDAY—WAS
49 YEARS OF AGE.
Dr. Robert MoMey, a prominent
physician of Uval.la and widely and
favorably known thioughout this en
tire section, dropped dead at hisjiome
there on Tuesday. He was about
40 years of age and is survived by
"his wife and one son, besides a large
family connection

was received with profound regret
by his many friends here.

CLUB IS ORGANIZED.
The 20th Cento'y Woman’s Club
is the newest Vidalia club, having
been organized Wednesday afternoon
at the home of Mrs. J. B. Warthen.
There are about 25 charter members
and the ladies who were present at
the organization meeting were very
enthusiastic over the work for the
new year, both along civic and other
lines.
Officers were named as follows:

Mrs. J. F. Darby, V ice -Pres.
Mrs. J. T. Ragan. Recording Sec.
Mrs. N. C. Nat ier. Corresponding

The club is to meet the 2nd and
4th Thursday of each month. Com

Mr. J. C. Dußose of thelnternal
Revenue Department, has been here
this week for the purpose of check
ing up Income Tax returns for this
section. He was given Postmaster
Darby’s private office and was kept
exceedingly busy while here.

Frank Lee, small son ot Mr. aim
Mrs. T. K. Lee, was badly burned
about the face last week when a
heating stove backfired, shooting.the
flames in his face as he stood before
the stove warming his hands. For
some days the "parents and friends
were apprehensive about the little
fellow’s eyesight, but it now' appears
that his eyes will not be affected by
the accident apd that his worst dam
age was the burns on his face.
WOMAN’S MISSIONARY SOCIETY
Mrs. H. L. Ru.khalter and Mrs.
J. R. Coombs were joint hostesses to
the W. M. S. at the regular social
and literary meeting Tuesday after
moon at the home of Mrs. Coombs.
The leader. Mrs. J. T. Ragan, had
arranged an inteicsting program on
our Cuban mission work in Florida,
after which Mrs. Arundel sang a
group of songs. She has a rich,
tender soprano voice and her sing
ing was a grateful treat.
Dainty refreshments were served
and a social hour enjoyed. Welcome
visitors were Mrs. J. T. B. Ander
son, Mrs. B. Ft. Anderson, Mrs. J.
A. Bland. Mrs. W. R. Hurst and
Mrs. Arundel.
