Deputy Sheriff Worth Poe was in
town Wednesday with quite a large
bunch of tax fi fas, and told some
delinquent taxpayers that Toombs
| county and the State of Georgia
! needed the money. The county au
thorities are as let lent with the tax
payers as possible but the time will
soon arrive when 'he officers will be
instructed to “make the money.”
Dr. W. F. Peacock returned Wed
nesday' from Atlanta, where he at
tended the convention of cotton
growers of the state and heard the
Sapiro plan discussed. Dr. Pea
cock regards the plan as feasible
and practical and has promised to
furnish the Advance for next week
an article on the work of the con
vention .

The Men’s Class of the Methodist
Sunday school held a delightful so
cial meeting at th parsonage Tues
day evening, thirty'-six members and
guests being present, and an elegant
plate luncheon being served by the
ladies of the Missionary {society. The
class is assisting in the drive for new
members for the Sunday school, last
Sunday the attendance reaching 204
members and visitors in the Man’s
Class totaling 58. The class decided
to hold a .social and business meet
ing once a month, accepting an in
vitation from D. C. Pattillo to meet:
at his home in May.
