COOI COUXTY FARMERS
PREPARE TO DIVERSIFY
SPARKS, Ga.—On account of the I
j
prices now prevailing in this section
for the main farm cropH, quite a num
ber of Cook county farmers are now
preparing their lands to widely diver
sify their crops another year.
A meeting of the Cook County
Truck Growers was held in Adel
Saturday. The members present
agreed to plant fifty acres In Eng

ed in lots of half an acre to five
! acres. Each member will plant the
i fame variety of seed and ull planting
will plant on the same day, Decem
: ber 15, being the day ag:ced upon to
plant, and when ready to market
shipments will be made In carload
lots on the co-operative plan. It will
: require ten or twelve acres in order
to ship In carload lota.
These peas will be planted at
Sparks. Adel and Cecil. Arrange
ments have already been made with
the Northern Fruit Exchange to
handle the crop for the growers. The
growers are figuring on following the
peas with sweet peppers which will
also be marketed co-operatively In
carload lots.
Quite a number of farmers at
Sparks have entered lota aaatracts
to plant fifty to one hundred acres
in the Jersey sweet potatoes next
spring. These contracts are let by a
New York concern who furnishes the
plants and pays for the potatoes a*
they are loaded in cars at Sparks,

and the growers contracting here ex
pect to ship their entire crop by the
middle of July.

THREE SCHOOL GIRLS
INJURED BT AUTOMOBILE
CLAXTON, Ga. —Three school girls
were injured during the recess hour
here last week when they were
knocked down by an auto driven by
Prentice Easteling. Medical aid
was rendered promptly. One of the
girls started across the street as the
car approached and Mr. Easterling,
whose auto had defective brakes, it Is
said, turned sharply to one side in an
effort to miss the girl. Instead of
missing the girl he struck her and
two companions he did not see until
too late to dodge them. A case has
bee made against the driver of the
car and he probably will face trial
I at an early date.
