JHSTBI CTIONS FOR THE USE
OF CALCIUM ARSENATE
,*• -
Just before the squares of the cot
ton are large enough for the weevils
to puncture and deposit their eggs,
-which is usually about the time the
first cotton bloom appears in the field
If you have any weevils, the cotton
shoud be dusted' twice at an interval
of three to four days. Then watch
your field carefully, and when you
find infested spots, if there are any,
dust these spots two or three times
ai about three days intervals, and
pick up each time all the punctured
squares. Later, when you find the
•weevils Infesting your field, dust the
cotton every five or six days. t
Should the infestation be heavy,
dust every four days for three of four
dustings, or until the weevil isu nder
control.
If the weather is dry it is best to
continue to dust so that the boll
weevil wiH be under control should
;wet weather set in.
If the weather is wet, continue to
dost, as dusting in wet weather is
very effective, unless there comes a
hard rain immediately after the appli
cation. Should this happen, repeat
the application.
Continue your applications during
the season until the cotton is matured
beyond carnage from the weevil.
With an average infestation we rec
ommend that the farmers supply
themesleves with 25 to 35 pounds of
dust per acre for the season.
Dust at night or early in them orn
ing when the dew is on the cotton.
The amosperic conditions are much
better at this time for success.
Use an average of about 5 pounds
of calcium arsenate per acre. It will
require more when cotton is large,
and less when cotton is small.
A hand gun is satisfactory for a
small acreage and for dusting infest
ed spots. A Two-row or Mule-back
is good for a larger acreage and still
better for a large acre is the Three
row Traction Duster. The Board has
frfready sent out a list of approved
machines. If you have not received
one, you can get this list by writing

THE VIDALIA ADVANCE
THE CHURCHES
OF
A COMMUNITY
Are the bulwarks of its progress and enlightenment, even
more than its schools, for commercial and mental advance
ment need the pillars of moral conception and responsibility
to make them substantial and lasting. What can society ac
complish with the labor of man’s mind and body without the
influence of his moral nature to define his relations and duties
to his fellow'-man- How futile would be the efforts of leg
islators, courts and magistrates to make and enforce laws
for the common good without that moral sentiment for which
the churches of the land are recognized to be responsible.
Even the man on the outside appreciates their beneficial influ
ence, and few there are looking for new homes who would
not consider the church spires of each town as sponsors of
truth and justice. They make happier homes and more con
tented people. The churches of this town need your sup
port and you need the churches.

DIZZINESS IS ANNOYING
AS MANY VIDALIA PEOPLE TOO
WELL KNOW.
When the kidneys are weak or dis
ordered they fall behind in filtering
the blood of poisons. As these pois
ons attack the r.erves, the result is
felt in spells of vertigo, just as drunk
enness will make a man dizzy from
the poisoning of alcohol. Dizziness,
headache, backache and irregularity
of the kidney secretions are all signs
of weak or disordered kidneys and
should not be neglected. Use Doan’s
Kidney Pills, the home-endorsed rem
edy for the kidneys. Read this Vi
dalia resident’s statement:
Mrs. B. F. Eckles, 207 Mclntosh
street, says: “I had a slight attack
of kidney trouble. My back was sore
and lame and at times I would find
it hard to bend over because of the
pains in my back being so severe. I
would also be troubled with dizzy
headaches and black specks appeared
before my eyes, blurring my sight.
I read of Doan’s Kidney Pills and be
gan taking them. After taking four
boxes I was completely cured and
have never had any trouble since.”
