WEEKLY COTTON LETTER
By
Savannah Cotton Factorage to.
(All inquiries promptly answered.)
The cotton market has helc.' Its own
during the past week notwithstanding
the fact that the coal and rail srikes
oontinued. Dispatches reaching us
toady indicated that settlement of the
coal strike will be effected this week,
ana' it would not b e surprising to see
a settlement of the rail strike at any
time. If the “Big Four” brother
hoods walk out, as now threatened,
this will really be in favor of the pub
lic, as it will hasten an early settle
ment of all rail strikes.
Excessive rains continue to fall in
most sections of the cotton belt East
of the Mississippi River, while Texas
has been without sufficient moisture
for several weeks. These conditions
have held prices up in the face of
strike and unfavorable political news
from Europe.' As soon as the situa
tion clears we expect to see good bus
iness and higher prices for cotton.
There is no getting around the fact
that there will not be sufficient cot
ton procAiced this season to meet spin
ners requirements. It is rumored
that professional traders are heavily
short of the market. If this is true
the slightest covering movement on
their part should force the market up.
It is well to remember that the Gov
ernment has already loaned over $60,-
000,000 to the South to assist in the
orderly marketing of cotton this sea
son, and we see no reason for accept
ing less than 25c per pound.

Crawfordville, which, according to law
enforcement advocates, answers these
urgent questions to the satisfaction of
the state’s best Judicial thought, as
wall as the most representative pub

Its proposals are endorsed by the
judges of all the superior courts save
five from whom no opinion, one way
or the other, has been received by the
judges of all the city courts without
exception; by a great majority of the
rural press; by virtually every city
newspaper of the state; by scores of
grand juries; by thousands of inform

The bill recently passed the state
senate by a vote of 47 to 1 and has
i since been endorsed by the house com

Catarrhal Deafness Cannot Be Cured
' by local applications, as they cannot reach
the diseased portion of the ear. There Is
1 only one way to cure catarrhal deafness,
and that Is by a constitutional remedy.
Catarrhal Deafness is caused by an In
flamed condition of the mucous lining ol
the Eustachian Tube. When this tube Is
Inflamed you have a rumbling sound or lm
perfect hearing, and when It Is Entirely
closed. Deafness Is the result. Unless the
Inflammation can be reduced and this tube
restored to Its normal condition, hearing
will be destroyed forever. Many cases ol
deafness are caused by catarrh, which !»

THE VIDALiA ADVANCE
BIG FORD SHOW FOR ATLANTA
It has just been announced that an
immense exposition of industrial pow
er and equipment will be held in At
lanta for three days from August 29
to 31 inclusive.
According to Mr. P. J. McNatt, the
local Ford dealer, this show will com
pletely destroy the fallacious idea that
the Fordson Tractor is for farm use
only. Instead, it has become a tre
mendous power in the industrial field
and this great exposition will show its
manifold uses.
Explaining further, Mr. McNatt
said that the Fordson Tractor is be
ing used to supplant expensive steam
power and horse power in building
and construction work, in lumber and
coal industries, etc.
For instance, a large number of man
ufacturers of road building equipment
observing the power and flexibility of
the Fordson Tractor, have built their
machinery to be used only with this
efficient power unit.
Manufacturers of hoists and wench
es got the idea and now the Fordson
is used for hoisting and operating
concrete mixers and other machinery
used in construction work.
A southern inventor has taken the
ordinary wheels off the Fordson, set
the power unit in heavy frame, put
flanged wheels on it, connected them
with driving rods and made a loco
motive out of it to be used in lumber,
mining and construction operations.
This will give you just a small idea
of the kind of show this Fordson ex
position will be.
An unusual feature qf this exposi
tion is that no admittance fee is to
be charged, everything being free and
open to the public at all times.
