eign waters, is visiting homefolks in

Hon. A. O. Blalock of Atlanta was
in the city Monday in the interest of
his candidacy for commissioner of ag

Mr. Curtis Philips, who has been in
Metter for sometime, has returned to
Vidalia. He expects to engage in the
buying of cotton during the rest of
the season.
Mr. Geo. N. Mathews returned on
Saturday from a stay of several days
at Hot Springs. He returns much
improved in health and says this sec
tion is blessed with the best crops
that he saw on his trip.

glad to welcome her back from Doug
las, where she had been for the past
six months. She has rented apart
ments at the home of Mr. John Lee

Rev. J. T. B. Anderson was in At
lanta Monday on his trip homeward
from North Carolina, where he spent
his vacation. He will preach at the
Vidalia Baptist church Sunday morn
ing and evening and will also meet
the Sunday school at 10 o’clock Sun
day morning. He writes that he will
return from his vacation reinvigora
ted and refreshed.

Elder R. H. Kennedy of Brooklet
is to fill the pulpit of the Primitive
Baptist church here at the next regu
lar meeting, the second Sunday in
September and Saturday before, while
Elder T. E. Sikes goes to the former's

Mr. and Mrs. James H. Parker of
El Paso, Tex., annonuce the birth of
a daughter on August 7th, who has
been christened Betty Ann. Mr. Par
ker is a Vidalia boy who went west
some years ago.

choir, and under the direction of Mrs.
Ethel Giles, a pleasing program of so
los, duets, quartettes and chorus num
bers were rendered.

addition to their school building to
take care of the increased attendance
which would result from a consolida
tion of schools, the people of Lyons
have abandoned the idea of a consoli
dated school district this year.
