CANDLER BOYS WIN IN CONTEST—
ATHELETIC OUT-LOOK AT B. P.—
BIG STILL CAPTURED—COLLINS
OUT OF RACE FOR JCDGE.
(Wetter Advertiser)
The Candler county team of boys
who this week participated in the
First District stock judging contest
held at Savannah were winners of the
prize—a trip to the Southeastern Fair
at Atlanta this Fall.
County Agent H. J. Prance, who ac
compained! the boys, advised The Ad
vertiser Tuesday evening of the suc
cess of the local team, which is com
posed of Jack Cartee. Roy Hendricks,
and Paul Miles.
The young representatives from the
different counties, together with the
county agents accompanying them,
were entertained Tuesday with an out
ing and dinner at Tybee Island.
At the Southeastern Fair, where
entrants will participate in another
contest, the prize will be a trip to the
Chicago stock show.

Deputy U. S. Marshall Pearce and
others, captured the “Daddy” of the
whiskey stills last Monday.
It was estimated that this still was
of two hundred and fifty gallon cap
acity and it had all the necessary
paraphanalia, such as worms, con
denser, etc., which go to make a first
class article of moonshine.
This monster still was captured
somewhere down on the lower side
of the county on what is known as
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 1922.
Little Jacks creek. It was not in op
eration, no material was found and'
no one was near the place.
(Tattnall Journal)
Judge E. C. Collins, is not now a
candidate for judge of the Superior
Court of the Atlantic circuit.
This announcement is contained in
a statement to the people of the cir
cuit, published in another column of
The Juornal.
Important changes in his business
arrangements have made it imperat
ive that he withdraw from the race,
as it would have been advisable for
him to serve, should he have been
elected, and knowing this, it was bet
ter for him to get out of the race rath
er than be the means of bringing'abont
complication!* that would, perhaps, af
fect the whole circuit.
Judge Collins stated to the editor of
The Journal that his family would
move to Mac-n wltbln the next 'ew
weeks for the purpose of putting his
,sons in school. His eldest, L/inton M.
Collins, a recent graduate of Mercer
University has accepted a position of
instructor of Latin at Lanier High
School, and another son, E. C. Collins,
Jr., will be a student at Lanier. The
youngest son, Earl, will enter Mercer.
Mrs. Collins felt that she should be
with her sons at school and look after
them, so she is moving to Macon with
them. Judge Collins will remain in
Reidsville, running up to Macon for
te week-ends with his family.
He states that Reidsville will still
be the home of the family, as at the
end of school year all will return hene.

sed al arge audience of Truetlen
county voters at the courthouse last
Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock in the
interest of his candidacy.
Mr. Blalock dealt at' length on the
past record of Mr. J. J. Brown as
Commissioner of Agriculture. At' no
time during his talk did he assail the
character of Mr. Brown, but dealt with
his record as ap üblic servant of the
people of Georgia.
He showed the voters of Truetlen
county that Mr. Brown was spending
annually thousands of dollars for use
less office holders and laid stress up
on the fact that the taxpayers of
treutlen county were sharing the bur
den of this unjust authority that Mr.
Brown has taken to build a political
machine, using thes tate’s funds for
same, in order to make it hard for any
man to beat him.
Mr. Blalock promises if elected an
economical and business like admin
istration. He spoke for an hour and a
half and no more interested audience
has ever listed to a political address
delivered in Trutlen county.
Treutlen county is already conced
ed to Blalock.
