Presbyterian Church
(City Hall)
“God bless our Bible School!”
You can’t say that if you do not
mean it; and don’t you think it comes
to God right poorly from one who
has not enough personal interest in
this part of His work to study, to
learn, or to taech His word in it?
You can do a whole lot for the Sun
day School is you want to; but re
member, the Sunday School is not
the whole of the church, but just a
department of its activity. The world
God say is to besaved, not by teach
ing alone, but by preaching of His
word. Are you giving your preacher
a square chance to help you know and
do God’s will? Be sure yo udo this.
The child is most likely to do as
the father and mother do, be sure,
too.
At 11 a. m. on Sunday Dr. Martin
dale will bring a message to all ages
on “What is the Real Meainng of
Christmas to You and Me?” Offer
ing for Christian‘Education and Min
isterial Relief and suppport of the
church. At 7:30 p. m. in the Series
on “The Great Doctrfces of Christ
ianity, Study VII will be on “The
Doctrine of Justification, the Key
note of the Protestant Reformation:
What is to be Justified? Is it God’s
Reckoning, or God’s making, one
Righteous? How can God, The
Righteous One, Account Us Sinners,
nrighteous ones, to be Righteous?
Are we Justified by our own works
(what we do) or rather by the work
Vs another (what Jesus Christ did on
the Cross) appropriated to ourselves
by faith? And when and to what ex
tent are we justified? Here we
deal with the fundamental question
of our Getting Right with God; our
standing with Him.” Don’t miss this
opportunity.
The Woman’s Auxiliary will be
of the President, Mrs. J. W. Poe.
Tuesday at 4 p. m. at the residence
On Wednesday, at Mrs. H. L. Cro

Power Company Ties
Two Towns Together
Power was turned on here Sunday
from the enlarged plant at Vidalia,
1 and the city is to have constant ser
jvice throughout the twenty-four hours
lof the day. The limited capacity of
i the local plant and the condition of
1 its equipment has greatly hampered
the attempt to render day and night
service since the Georgia Southern
Power company took over the local
plant.
| Additional machinery has been in
, stalled in the company's larger plant
' at Vidalia, and this plant will be used
for a few months to supply three or
I four towns until the high tension
j lines can be built to this section. Its
| operation will then be discontinued,
j Information indicates that good prog
ress is being made in the construction
of these lines into South Georgia and
| that they will reach Lyons and Vida
j lia early next year.—Lyons Progress.
South Has Great Asset
In Resources of Power
Atlanta, Ga., Dec. 16.—The great
asset for the development of indus
try which the South has in its re
sources of coal and water power is
the subject of the third of the series
of advertisements being carried by
the Southern Railway System in na
tional publications having a circula
tion of 10,000,000.
This advertisement appearing in
the December magazines under the
caption, “Towers of Southern Indus
try,” is illustrated by view of a mod
ern electric transmission line cross
ing the Southern mountains and reads
as follows:
“Great towers of slender steel
march Indian file up over woded hills
and down through valley fields, car
ryin power and light to the farms,
homes and factories of the South.
The rapid increase in the product
ion of electricity in the South, from
water and steam power, is an out
standing industrial achievement of
percent since 1912—in the rest of
our time. It has risen more than 275
the country about 276 percent.
“Cheap and abundant electricity
is a magnet to modern industry. It
effects economies and makes for bet
ter industrial methods.
“This is one of the many advan
tages that are making the South a
national manufacturing center—that
already have made the South the
textile center of America.”
